Hi Everyone! I'm Cristin....I am about to start my weight loss journey with the help of our Hospital's Medical Weight Management Program. They use Optifast. On July 6th I will start my 12 weeks of detoxing my body's cravings and food triggers. I am so excited to find this site for motivation, support, and friendship!

I am a newbie and have no clue where to start.
I have typically been unhealthy for most of my life. Last time I tried to lose weight I did it the wrong way and gained it all back and then some.

I need help from someone that can guide me along and show me what this site offers. I have a really busy schedule but am willing to do what it takes to get to my goals.
Thanks everyone!!

OK Traci,

My name is Kim (male) and I'm new to this site. I have a long history of weight loss and gain. Back in the 80s I was a triathlete and even did an iron man. As I tell my friends that was 25 years and 50 lbs ago . I still get lots of exercize by bicycle riding about 150 miles a week. Over the past few years I had some injuries and put on mor weight than normal. I had a total hip last December and at this point I'm feeling the best I have in years. The weight is starting to come off but I often get comfortable in my "fat clothes" and start eating poorly again. Hopefully this site will help to keep me on track. I like to get about 30 pounds off by next spring so that I can ride with the fast guys again.

Alright!

I am Krystina, and obviously a new member to the site. I am 16 years old and in desperate need of help. I have never been able to do weight loss by myself, and have never had anyone there to help me. All through my childhood I had my father there calling me fat and telling me to drop and give him 20 when I was only 5.

I am a simple teenager and a dancer, and I fear if I don't lose weight soon I will never be healthy and will never be able to pursue my career in dancing. I am hoping lose about 50 pounds, but I would always like to be a bigger girl. It gives me confidence, but I would like to get in shape. So I am ready to begin my journey!

My name is Connie, I am a newbie. I have been working out for about 2 weeks and have lost 9 pounds. I know the weight won't keep coming off like this, but when you have over 150 pounds to lose and don't get much exercise, it tends to fall off pretty fast with an hour of exercise a day. For right now, I am motivated and I am actually enjoying working out, but I have been through this before...motivation is my biggest issue. I usually do good at first, but then when I start to feel like I have to chose between something fun or going to the gym, I tend to chose the fun after a few dedicated weeks. That is why I am here...I know that is coming around the corner in a few weeks and don't want to give up again this time. I am 26 years old and over 300 pounds and just can't keep living like this. I would like to reach my goal before I am 30 so that I can experience all that this life has to offer. I'm glad I have found this site for support, hopefully it will make a difference.

Hello! I too am a newbie and I'm really up for losing a stone. The same stone I've been trying to lose for my whole adult life! I tend to be extremely 'good' from monday to friday - go to the gym and keep the water/vegetables flowing but when i hit the weekend the only thing that flows is the beer and the crisps. So I'm hoping if I've got you chaps to answer to on a dreaded monday morning I'll behave a little bit better!

Hello all I'm Lisa, just joined today (and I have to say, since I've joined I went out and walked a mile just because the act of joining made me feel the urge to go out and exercise instead of sitting on my butt!!). I am very excited. I have been up and down and currently would like to lose 40-50lbs. I have already invited a friend to this site so I hope we can work on this together! Thanks for making a great support site.

Whoops! I jumped right in to blogging, and didn't even check in with the forums! I joined a couple days ago. Anyway, I'm Jessica, and am currently 219, 238 back in May and losing around 1.5 lbs/wk on average. I hope to keep it up, beginning with a visit to the gym once I log off this site! ;-)

Cheers, and happy wellness to all!

Post Re: Newbies Sign in Here!

Hi everyone! My name is Leann and I'm 23. I've been overweight since I was a kid and I felt I needed to join a support system to keep up my motivation. I gained soo much weight this last year due to depression (bf cheated, laid-off, folks laid-off and SO much more) that I can't stand it anymore. I decided to start my final diet..I say final because I'm beyond determined this time. I don't have a weight tracker for now (no scale), but will be getting one soon..so yay! I'm just so tired of being fat and so sick of how society treats people who have extra weight. I would also like to buy clothes that you don't need to pay 2-3$ extra for because it's bigger. It's been 3 weeks since my diet started and I know I've lost weight because I've lost inches and can also feel it. I feel happier, but will reach my goal hopefully by the end of the year.

Aside from all that, here's a little about me: Music is my life...I'm a metalhead, but do listen to other genres including a lot of '80s and oldies. I play guitar and write songs/poetry. I LOVE animals and used to work at Petco as an animal specialist until I was laid-off. I have a fascination with the weather as well. I would love to work for the NOAA someday. Going to the State Fair is a tradition in my family. I also sing very well, but am no longer in a band. I love meeting new people and trying new things. I believe strongly in the phrase "treat others how you want to be treated" and also in karma. SO..that's enough about me...let's hear more about you
