Hey I'm Myah. I have 50 pounds to lose to where i feel good about myself and i can further my career, or dream career i should say. I really need to lose this weight. I am going to attempt to lose 50 pounds in 5 months if i can but its probably unlikely for that weight to all be fat, but i dont know.

Hello Everybody...

I am new here to the site, and this is also the first time in my life I have concentrated on loosing weight. Partly due to the fact this is the first time I have really had to, well, wanted to, or should I suppose. I am still learning a lot on this site and how to use it. The site seems similar to myspace in a way, so I'm sorta used to it. Although, any suggestions on updating my page or whatever are always appreciated. More importantly, any weight loss suggestions are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh

Thumbs up Re: Newbies Sign in Here!

Hello everyone! I signed up on 4/3/2008! So far, I am loving this website. I already have a few buddies, and have been getting booster notes! I love the support and inspiration from others at BuddySlim. Furthermore, calculating my calorie intake each day truly makes me feel more accountable for what I'm eating. There's no hiding anything when it's laid out on the computer screen for you! I have about 30-35 pounds that I'd like to lose. I've lost 2 pounds already in a week, so I'm feeling super-motivated! I even hung a picture of Rosie the Riveter on my wall: "We can do it!" More inspiration and motivation! I look forward to making many new buddies...WE CAN DO IT!

This is my first "post" not sure if I am posting correctly. I am 48 with 2 teenage sons. One in college & the other Jr in HS. I need to lose 40 lbs & I am confused about all the "diets" out there, plus I have little will power. I am thinking about WW online. Has anyone tried this method? Or are the meetings more beneficial. Thanks

Hi Everyone,

Summer is coming, heck, life is coming and I want to keep up, enjoy and feel good about my body and my heart.

I walked my 1st 2 miles today, 35 minutes! Not so bad for being lazy the past 2 years.

I have a beautiful new (2 months) adopted daughter, she is 17, and is she amazing, funny, bright and fills my heart.

I have a drop dead crush on my husband of 4 years.

I have 2 sweet dogs, a 14year old golden and a 1 year old Shizhu. AND 2 kitties.

I moved to Dallas a year and a half ago and I HATE it. We are here for family reasons. It's hot, flat, dry and noisy. I moved from high in the mountains of Colorado so it's quite a change.

I hold a 2nd degree black belt, but I don't feel deserving of it currently as I have done NOTHING since moving to Dallas. I need some peeps to keep me on task and this forum sounds great!

I look forward to meeting many of you!

Hello again everyone!!!!

Welcome to Lacy, Holly, Janna, Irma, Liz, Myah, Josh, Elizabeth, TJ and Winter!!! I love newbs...

Lacy: Personal Trainers are great, I have one myself. I call her Jillian Michaels in disguise! LOL Good idea about the scale, however, I weigh myself everyday which yes can be completely the wrong thing to do but I've been doing it about 4 years so I don't get all messed up like some people have from doing it. 75lbs to lose will soon be a thing of the past. The traininer will teach you that it's so NOT about the scale # and the one you want to focus on is the body fat %!!!!

Holly: I love the biggest loser. I don't get to watch every episode but when I don't see one episode and watch it the following week it's like wow look at the change in some of them. I also like the Australian version too, it was good while I watched it. So emotional eater huh? I hear you on that. I've just decided that I need to curb my emotional eater classification and make it emotional exerciser! LOL Welcome to Slim.

Janna: Black labs are sooooooo cute. When I get my house I plan to have a dog and so far, black or chocolate lab seems to be top of the list! Don't get discouraged by the amount of weight you need to lose. Look at it as the amount of weight you want and will lose and break it up into 4 goals (8 if you need to) and focus on that. Focus on say 25lbs and look at it as that's all you need to lose and go for it. When you get there, cause you will, then you focus on the next 25lbs and go from there. Smaller amounts = soooo much less intimidation!

Irma: Go on girl, 60lbs already? Way to go!!!! And all 3 months before you originally set your goal for. That's awesome. You obviously know what you want and you are on your way there...good for you!!!

Liz: 50 on WW? That's sweet! 10lbs back on, well not what we want, BUT, you still have that other 40 gone right?!?! Look at the positives and then keep on motoring along. You know how to do it, you have the loss from before as proof, just get going again and that 10 will be long gone before you know it!

Myah: Welcome. Can I start by saying that 50lbs in 5 months can be done I'm sure but majority of the time it's not in the healthiest way possible. You are 178 when you started this weight loss journey and 50 will put you at 128. While that might be a great weight for your height/age etc you need to know that the less you need to lose the harder it tends to get. My suggestion would be to aim for 1% of your body weight per week to lose and go from there. In 20 weeks (approx 5 months) you could lose about 32lbs safely and it's more realistic for what you want. I'm not trying to discourage you at all I just don't want you to be hard on yourself if you don't get 50 in 5!

Josh: Hello, welcome welcome. So 22lbs is what you want to lose huh. I see your mini goal says basically about half way...my suggestion, try breaking it up into 4 increments, that way it's a lot less intimidating and from the sounds of your post you are here, but you are doing it cause you should, could, would, as opposed to cause I want to and I'm ready. We are all here 100% behind you so if you need a kick in the pants just let us know!

Elizabeth: Listen to you! LOL Aren't you just a whole bunch of motivation piled into one post, I love it. Keep it up and way to go on that 2lbs, before you know it you'll be at your goal and maintaining your heart out!

TJ: WW Online I heard can be really great or really bad, it totally depends on YOU. Some people need that physical support of meetings and others are great at just being accountable to themselves and others online. I am biased for the online version as the way I see it is if I can't be accountable to myself each day by myself how am I going to be accountable to myself once I don't have the meetings anymore right? But that is just MY opinion. Definitely talk to others about it. I am an online WW subscriber and that's just my 2 cents.

Winter: You know what you want, you know how to get there, thus, you will! You sound like you have the right attitude for it and heck, with a blackbelt you can always just kick your own arse if you need to! LOL Welcome again and your coach will be in contact with you shortly!

Hello - I'm Katie and I'm a teacher, wife, and have been struggling with weight for as long as I can remember. I teach in an urban district which is really rewarding, but also very demanding and exhausting. I find that my job is my health downfall and am making changes here and there to make it as rewarding in both a mental and physical way as possible. I would enjoy being on a 'team' of like-goaled individuals!

I actually started this weight loss journey on January first but my momentum and motivation has been waning and this seemed like it might be a good way to get back on track.
