Default WANTED- Buddies serious about success

I am new here and excited about weight loss. I am sort of a competative person so I would love to find people with similar goals and lets just encourage each others butts (hips, thighs and jiggle arms) off. I am watching what I eat by practising portion and serving size control and exercising. Lets get busy

I'm new here too. How much are you trying to lose? I am trying to lose 60lbs. so I'm not sure if we have similar weight loss goals or not. A few years ago I lost over 50 lbs by just making better choices and eating smaller portions, but still eating the foods I like. I have had another baby since then and "fallen" off the wagon, but I'm ready to lose this weight again. What are your goals?

I do better with a little competition also. I would love to join some kind of supportive yet competitive circle, lol. I am trying to lose about 100 lbs and my planned approach is very much like the one you have mentioned, portion control and exercise.

Thumbs up Re: WANTED- Buddies serious about success

Count me in! I'm also watching portions (made easier by having my meals delivered from Seattle Sutton - I don't know if that's laziness or cleverness on my part... ), and making a commitment to hit the gym 5-7 times a week, an hour a day at least, more if I can manage it. I'm balancing my excercise regimen between weights/aerobic-based classes, treadmill and weights circuits on my own, ballet classes (love them, even if I look ridiculous in a leotard!), and I am starting a kickboxing class and also a water-workout class (can't believe I will be seen in a bathing suit in public - and I thought the leotard was pushing it!) this month.

I'd love a little healthy competition/support to keep me focused! Are you thinking we would do this in some sort of structured way - like what percentage total weight loss by such and such a date, or just keep it more open-ended?...

Hi ladies thanks for coming on as buddies. I like the idea of a little weight loss % contest for bragging rights I guess LOL. Any ideas or suggestions on time frame? I was thinking something in a small amount of time like a month.

Ooooo, a month is so short! How about we use an upcoming arbitrary calendar date like St. Pat's or Easter so that we have a decent number of weeks to work with? I'm looking at a target goal of 30 lbs loss total and can really only safely lose 2lbs max a week - I'd love a chance to shoot for double-digits...

ps: You were a firefighter?! That's so cool!!!

Yeah I still volunteer as a firefighter/ paramedic to keep up my skills and certs but I do not want to go back working the 24 hr shifts while my kids are little. I did with my first and it broke my heart to leave him. Anyways we can pick a date- would Valentines Day be OK. I stay focused better when I have shorter goals LOL but then again I am thinking to my advantage. St. Patricks Day isnt so bad either, anyone else on the board up too it also?
