I can't imagine how you feel.* You have the right to be mad!* I don't know what you can do to resolve this matter but I know it must be fustrating!

The only thing that might resolve it is if I gave her the $475 she asked for.* But I can't...and I won't.* Even if I wanted to,*we can't afford it because Micheal is out of work and we need every penny we have to get by on til he's working again.* And I won't try to buy my daughter's love.* I'd just have to keep paying for it.* It wouldn't be a one-time thing.

i was reading thru this and thought i would share a little on my thoughts about weight being hereditary.* in my family both sides are average sizes except for my dads mother she was heavy set.* my mom is very slim and my dad was always average.* my brother is about average,* my older sister is struggling with weight,* and she is now a curves owner.* my younger sister struggled with weight for about 2 years then convinced her dr to give her something cause hers was caused from depression due to her divorce.* as for me,* every doctor i have ever been to has checked my thyroid and couldnt find* anything.* my theory and this is just based on me is that mine is based on depression.* i never cared what i ate before and never cared what i looked like.* and as for pregnancy,* i always lost weight when i was pregnant. i think just maybe some ppl are prone to be overweight if its not in the family.* and its how we eat and what we do.* my husband is tall and skinny and eats enough for 4 ppl at each meal. one of these days i tell him im gonna take a picture of what he eats and what i eat and comapre the difference.* anyways,* i guess what im trying to say is that it i guess it can be hereditary but i think it just depends on the person.
mary,* im sorry about your granddaughter and daughter,* i can imagine how mad you were and how it felt.
take care everyone and have a great weekend

WOW!! This is one heck of a thread.
Ok, regarding obesity being hereditary--this is what I think. I think that the tendency might be partially hereditary (let's face it--some people are more prone to obesity) but actual obesity, I feel, is the result of both environment and personal choices.
Second, Mary, I am so sorry about your daughter's behavior!! I tell ya, I'd be thrilled if my kids' grandma called me up to see if she could hang with them for a day or two. DH and I hardly ever have any time w/o our kids, not that I'm complaining. You don't deserve that and I'm so sorry you have to put up with it!!
Also, I wanna know the name of that movie.
Okay, I think I may*have covered most of the topics, lol...

Oh, and on my mom's side, I'm the biggest person there. On my biological father's side, no one is obese except for his children. So...again, environment and personal choices is my vote!

Well, I'll reserve the right to believe obesity is heredity...LOL!!!* During my pregnancies I was following the doctor's dietary instructions, including the 1200-1500 calories a day.* According to him, that is what I needed to be eating.* Then he would literally yell at me for gaining weight.* Finally my husband (now my ex) went to an appointment with me and told the dr. that I was eating what and how much he said to eat.* The dr just said it wasn't possible for me to gain that much weight eating according to his recommendations.* Another dr. told me a few years later that my metabolism just shut down during my first pregnancy and it's not wanting to start back properly.* Is that more feasible?

Default Weekend Support 10/14

Well it's Saturday morning and a new weekend.* And it's the time some of us need extra support.* So here's our weekend thread for us to use to keep up with each other.
*
I'll be here most of the day today (gotta go do laundry sometime today), but we'll be heading for Nashville early tomorrow morning for Micheal's interview on Monday.* But I will be taking my laptop with me.
*
Use this thread for whatever topics you like.* We can keep specific*conversations going all day or just post thoughts, ideas, feelings or comments to other's posts...even blow off a little steam if you want.* Is something causing you extra stress?* Are*you having trouble staying on*program?**Are you just plain lonely?* Tell us about.**It will also*be a way to meet new buddies!
*
So welcome to the Weekend Support Thread.
*
*
And remember:* Don't let a little slip ruin your trip!!!

My mother was obese. She had a gastric bypass in the late 60's She did gain all her weight back and then some.I also have 2 obese sisters plus myself.* So I do strongly believe its in the genes!! But can be controled with diet. Our family uses food for comfort, stress, happiness, sadness etc. Makes it very hard to battle the weight problem.
Just thought I'd share!! Have a great day.

Sheree,*celebratory and comfort use of food*is a big part of it.* And others have made similar comments to that effect.* I will concede to that.* But even with changing my lifestyle, I'm still fighting.* I took control of my diet right after I left home when I was 23.* And I've done my best to eat sensibly ever since then.* But sometimes I feel like I've just been fighting a*losing battle.
