Hello Mary,
*
I'll be popping in and out thru out the day.
*
I had a thought yesterday when I was driving*on my way home from work....Does anyone believe that obesitey(I know I didn't spell that correctly) is heretitary?***My grandmother on my moms side was severly overweight my mom for half my life is severly overweight as I am as well,* My daughter has who is almost 19 was never heavy until she hit 15 so she also strugles w/her weight...My son is fine he can eat any and everything and not gain a pound...Is this weight thing a girl thing?**** In my family it sure seems like it...So my question is this....Does anyone else have this pattern in their family and do you think your kids in the past were affected by your bad eating habits and now show signs of being heavy?
*
Just a thought thank you for letting me share it,
xoxoxoxo
Becky

Well y'all, I'm gonna head off to bed.* Gotta get up early tomorrow morning and get on the road.* I'll probably be back on before we leave, and I'm taking my laptop with me so I'll most likely be back on tomorrow evening.
*
Good night everybody.

ohhhhh, I wanted to tell you guys about this movie I watched last nite.**
It was about 4 kids somewhere inbetween 10-12 yrs old....One of the boys were extremly overweight and due to unfortunate circumstances he chose to start loosing weight...This did not go over well w/ his extremly overweight family expecially his mother..To make a long story short his dad and sister went out of town and he had to stay with his mom alone...He wound up locking her in the basement with water, toilet, and bed matress...Every so often he would go around to the outside window and slip food (salad, apples, water) thru...She never ate any of it...Wound up there was a gas leak in the house and the boy passed out in the living room and the mom woke up in the basement smelling gas..She was able to break down the door and get help for the both of them...The boy got his mother to see that they were unhealthy and that they all needed to work together to loose weight...The mom finally agreed.
*
It was interesting movie.

Sharing thoughts...that's what this thread is all about.
Yeah, I think heredity has something to do with it.* My mother was heavy most of her adult life, as was her mother.* Two of my three sisters have had weight problems.* Several cousins on my mom's side are heavy, as well as a couple of aunts.* On dad's side, he's slim.* His mom was heavy. One of his brothers is slim, the other was heavy.* He had 7 sisters and all but 1 of them was heavy.* Most of the female cousins on that side of the family are heavy.* And the rear end is prominent in everybody else (we call it the Davis rear end!!).* So yeah, I do believe heredity has something to do with it.* In most cases that I know of in my family, everybody was slim until at least puberty,*and started gaining either then or early adulthood.

I think that's one of the reasons I'm having such a hard time losing.* Somebody tell me if I'm wrong.

Becky, that movie sounds like it wouldn't let me sleep for days.....* But yes, I think obesity is heridatary.* For me, I got the hypothyroidism curse from my mom for sure.* My mom didn't discover it until her 50's which explained why she always struggled with her weight UNSUCCESSFULLY.* She was one of those people that ate so little but was still "overweight."* When she discovered her diagnosis she practically rushed me to the doctor who diagnosed me with the same thing and put me on medications which caused me to lose weight without even trying.* So yes, I think genes have a lot to do with weight but you can do something to change that.* One of my best friends eats fast food and junk food all the time and weighs 100 lbs.* My other friend is a health nut and weighs the same thing because she has the genes that don't allow her to eat junk.* Interesting huh????*

I've had my thyroid tested dozens of times, but was told it was ok.* But they keep wanting to check it when I go to a new doctor.* Is there maybe something they're missing?
*
I've struggled for years trying to lose this weight.* For the past 25 years I've eaten low-fat for the most part.* I very seldom ever eat or drink anything with sugar.* Micheal says I eat like a bird.* And look at me...I weigh 334 lbs.* I've lost 26 lbs, but it's taken me 5 months to do it and if I am not extremely strict with my diet, I don't lose an ounce and usually gain.* It really gets frustrating sometimes.* I'm on weight watchers and try to stick to my points.* If I just use my regular points I'm ok, but if I use the flex points I don't lose and sometimes gain.* I'm trying to get more exercise in, but every time I try being more active I end up in extreme pain and have to quit for a while.* Sometimes it seems like I'm fighting a losing battle.

Hello ladies!* I will be here afterall.* Sweetest day isn't until next weekend.* So of course me and dh will be out part of the day hopefully.*
Yes, I think weightloss is inherited.* My grandma and my mother both overweight, diabetic, high blood pressure, my grandma had an overactive thyroid.* The list can go on and on.* Of course alot of things also that were inherited is, my mom puts extra everything on her food.* So guess what?* I use to order xtra dressing, mayo, cheese, a side order of this and that.* She puts sugar in everything she cooks.* So naturally I did the same and now that's what my daughter likes.* That's why it's so hard for me eating the way I do now, but Thank God My daughter is young enough to learn differently.
Sorry if this was too long.* It's the weekend it's just us! LOL

I just read Shelly's*blog for today and thought of something.* I've read blogs & posts of others talking about late night cravings and munching.* Last night I woke up hungry in the middle of the night.* I opened the fridge, saw my bottles of water sitting there, grabbed one, opened it up and guzzled at least half of it.* I wasn't hungry any more.* That made me realize that maybe the late night cravings were actually thirst instead of hunger!!* And if that's the case, maybe it's the same for daytime.* So, I'm gonna start guzzling water whenever hunger hits before I reach for food, except at planned mealtime.* Let's see if that makes a difference.

Glad you guys are here..and NO...I don't think it is heredity..maybe a little..but I think bad habits get past down from generation to generation.* If you break these habbits now...we will save our own kids from being obese.* It is just not food..its excercising to.* I am trying my hardest to do this with* my children...they are not aloud to drink soda, and when I give them juice I fill there cup 3/4 the way to the top and the rest of juice.* They eat 3 balance meals a day and for there snacks I give them fruit...(most of the time).

Well as for me we were suppose to have a couple of friends over tonight to play some cards..well let me just tell you that a couple turned out to maybe around 12...for dinner and cards.* So tonight I'll be busy cooking, cleaning, and entertaining.* This morning I've been keeping busy cleaning the house.* Just taking a little lunch break which was a tuna wrap, and* a small salad. I've been drinking water all morning...and yes so far no soda..woo hoo!!!* (all tough I might have tonight with a couple of drinks)
