Default What's the best piece of advice you ever got?

Related to diet or otherwise?

My best piece of advice was not to do it alone.* It is so much easier to lose weight with a friend by your side supporting you!* =)* Love you girl!*

Two things:
First you have to accept that you have two choices, both consciously & subconsciously that you can either
1.* Keep doing the same thing over & over again and get the same results - And be OK with this.
2.* Do things differently and then get different results.
Most people say they agree but they only give it lip service and don't really accept & internalize it.

Second:* Find some way of focusing your mind on what you want and not focusing on what you DON'T want.* You will create whatever you focus on (your brain will ignore the 'DON"T').** So if you focus on "I don't whant to be FAT", then you brain only 'sees' FAT and it will find a way to make you fat.* If you focus on being slim, healthy, sexy,....etc.* Your brain will figure out a way to make that happen as well.
Long story short -* Keep asking yoursel "WHAT DO I REALLY WANT" over and over again, all day long.

Oh yeah, this goes for any change you want to make, not just dieting, weight loss and so on.

I once had an old boss tell me:

"No matter what, make a decision...Whether its right or wrong, make one! People will respect you more if you stand up and make one...If you*made the wrong*one, acknowledge that it was wrong, and be prepared to take responsibility for it. But there is no shame in a bad decision"

He*was a real butt, by the way, but I have carried that advice with me for over 10 years now...And it works...I dont always make the best decisions, but I always make them instead of waiting for someone else to decide for me...I try to do that with my dieting, my life, my job, etc...If I mess up, I own up to it and move on...

Good questions!!!

Dawn

It comes from my study of Buddhism, somewhat limited, but you are responsible for your own actions and thoughts,no one else. And that people will change, but only if they want to change themselves. I took these two beliefs and started to implement them in my belief system.

The best advice I ever got was from my father, choose my friends wisely. Everyone is not always your friend but maybe just an associate. Oh, and always look people in the eyes.* That was from my daddy too!
