me too. i usually eat dairy but had cut it out for the bby nd am doing some now. i do cheese, nuts, seeds, lentils, beans, and soy products. i definitely do not get as much protein as meat eaters do. i find a small amount of nuts for a snack always worked well.

can i just tell you guys that whenver i see the title for this thread i think of holding onto binge eating instead of letting go - guess we all know where i am these days!

How are all of you??

It's gotta be rough right now, lack of sleep, new family size, juggling two little ones (hopefully not literally). It will get easier in a few months when things settle down. Just keep hanging in there.

It's actually been pretty amazing, the longer I'm on this journey, the easier it gets. I always have fear of the binge in the back of my mind and consciously try to steer clear of my triggers and pay extra close attention to my eating when I can't avoid a trigger (like my #1, being tired).

I'm really trying hard to listen to my body and eat intuitively, so my calories are never consistent, and I think that helps some with weight loss, since my body never gets accustomed to a certain amount of food, some days (like thanks giving) I have way less calories than you should in a day, and then when PMS strikes, I go through 2 or 3 days where I eat 5-6 small meals and just never seem to get satisfied. I have to keep them small, though, cuz when I get "full" that sets me up for a binge, too, so...

that's just so great how you are really in tune with your body. i bet that will keep you doing really well and you aren't forcing yourself to do this or that but instead listening and paying attention! nice! how'd you start to do that?

By not eating... at all... until I got, really, REALLY hungry... then I'd eat a bit and wait, see how that felt, eat a bit more, wait. Not every day or anything, but when I'd notice that I'd been a while without grazing or anything I'd try it... then I just kinda started noticing hunger feeling a little different from the other "hunger" I get when I'm tired, or thirsty, or overwhelmed, or (ironically) a bit too full.

Probably not the best or most scientific method, but that's how I got started on hearing my body's need (vs. my mouths desire) for food.

And in the middle, lots of lo-cal cheats to make me feel full... when I just needed the feeling... but that wasn't really listening to my body as much as my mind/heart.

The trust my body part started when I'd "pig out" (it feels like that when you're dieting) at hormonal times, but not gain, sometimes lose... I started slowly realizing that no matter how much food my body requested, if my BODY was asking for it... it was safe to give it. I've been 12 weeks with out a gain or maintain... and some days I EAT... other days, barely. I'm still not perfect at listening to my body, but I certainly try.

Tina, congrats on being in 100s!!! Your laid back approach has worked for you.

I came back from Thanksgiving feast and lost 1 pound. I couldn't eat as much as I usually eat at Thanksgiving dinner. Being able to walk again and doing belly dance probably produce "happy" hormones so I don't seek comfort in food.

Kama, good job on going back to healthy eating.

Stacey, belly dance is a fun activity and very feminine. I wish you could have time to practice alone at home. What about classes? Some gyms at the Y have belly dance classes.

Debbie, thank you for sharing about your protein sources. My husband eats nuts and dairy products a lot. I can only eat nonfat Greek yogurt from Trader Joe's. Nuts are very fattening especially when you can't stop after eating a few.

How is the eating in front of TV? I watch TV on my bike in the basement. It's cool because you can time your workout and pedal away focusing on interval training during commercials.

Ok all, quick note. Congrats on that pound, Tatiana! Tina, you too!
Debbie, we can beat this "eats' thing, I know it.
Ok you can all be proud of me, I commit to not buying anymore cookies(my binge food) and I gave away the rest of my pumpkin pie at work. I am determined.
