Erica, you can talk to your husband and explain that this is a real problem for you and you need your support. What are your trigger foods?

Well, another day without eating after 5 PM and another 1.5 pounds are gone. Amazing. What is different? I drink more water and eat slowly. Good foods. Enough protein to hold me over. I don't gobble fruit like crazy anymore.

Let's see how it continues.

No binge tonight either. But I am really hungry and antsy. I am drinking mint tea... wonder if it would help..

Still no binges. I highly suspect that developing a new habit of walking 5 miles a way helps to be focused on healthy stuff for me and prevents from going into the binge abyss.

I am a night time binger and I hate it. I feel disgusting in the AM like mentioned earlier in the thread...bloated, full and gross. I have a few trigger foods and if they are laying around after my daughter goes to bed the temptation feels too strong. I managed to not binge 3 nights in a row last week. Brushing my teeth, green tea and chewing gum seemed to help a bit. I have put on about 20 pounds in the past year and I am sure it is all from the binging at night. Those 3 days last week that I did not binge...I was down 2.5 pounds....I feel sick still now from my binge last night.....I'll be watching this thread....should turn into a great support system!! Thanks for starting it! I have never admitted my binging to ANYONE in this world!!!

Dear Sarah,

I know. It's full of shame, the little/big secret. And you gain one pound every time you binge. But you lose one pound a day as soon as you stop bineing.

Come and post here when you feel like you are going to binge. Write down what you feel, what you want to eat, and why you don't want to get any bigger. Take it one day/night at a time.

I binge when my husband leaves home. Secretive eating.

ETA: I lost three pounds this week because I had no binges.

Thanks Tatiana! You losing 3 pounds without binging only convinces me more that binging is my BIGGEST problem. And unless I cut fruit up during the day I binge on junk at night. So glad I found your thread..I wanted to be accountable to someone because I always have more success if I just don't answer to me. I want this bad and am taking this seriously! I am sure we can do this!! Every little success is motivating...I am hoping to make it thru this night without as I am suffering today from last night....never thought of it so much as a 'hangover' until I read that in the thread but it makes sooo much sense. The 3 days I didn't binge last week I woke up feeling GREAT!

Sarah, I understand. I am so glad you are brave enough to post on this thread. People read but don't post and I know for sure that so many of us binge at night, on weekends...

Remember, every time you open the fridge and look for something to eat, you can think about "the morning after." Remember the feeling of being bloated, sick, pain in stomach, puffy cheeks, disgusting feeling of failure? That's how I feel...

Every bite is a choice.

Come here and post every time you want to binge. I remember we had Matt at one time who binged at night... he would post about his cravings and it would help him stop binges.

It's Internet and we have anonymity but think of it. The whole world is reading about our binges. The secret is out. We can stand strong together.

ETA: Sarah, bingeing is my ONLY problem. I exercise 1.5 hours every day and have great, strong muscles... covered with fat from excessive eating, from bingeing. As soon as I stop bingeing, my body gladly burns all the normal amount of calories I consume.

I actually lost 4.4 pounds. The brave new me risked everything and showed this thread to my husband. He had no idea.

What I am going to do before the binge hits me is to re-read this thread over and over again. To have a voice of reason that is my own and other people who contributed, Debbie, Paula, Erica, and Sarah. There is strength in numbers.

This has been very interesting to read. I am a secretive binger. Very much. I can remember making pudding and then hiding it in my room as a young child and eating all of it. Even did it then and still struggle with it. I have managed to get my night time binging under control but the worse time for me is when I am at home, alone. Even now, I am at home alone and let me tell you, it is all calling to me. I am not hungry but I want to eat it as fast as I can. I am one that can't stop till it is all eaten. I remember going to the bakery and buying things for my kids and then by that night, I pretty much ate everything I bought for them
My trigger foods: Meat (I am crazy but I just love fatty meat!)
Chocolate
Pastry
Bread
But I struggle the most with bread and pastries.
Ice cream. I would buy ice creama nd eat and eat nad eat tillt here was no more. I hated myself for having no self control over myself and now trying to learn how to control those things. For now, I have to maintain strict control over myself to not do it but when i am alone, those are the most trying times.
Rachel

Hey Rachel, as you can see you are not alone in this battle we have with food! Welcome to the thread and congrats for being brave enough to post too!

I managed to get thru my Saturday night with a 'mini' binge....I tried hard not to at all but slipped a bit (silly I know but I have a crazy trigger food...fruit roll ups) and stopped myself mid-stream. Getting stronger is a good sign....I am aiming for great success tonight and gonna chew chew chew my gum and drink my tea!
