Thank you, Tatiana - I will go look back at the beginning of the thread now. Will get back to you about my "plan of attack".

I read the beginning pages - they were very useful. I appreciate the honesty on here.

I'm still not sure what I will do to avoid binges. They are pretty rare for me. I only binge on junk food (Doritos or sweets). Getting those out of the house will help tremendously. Also, I never binge when my husband is home. And usually when the kids are preoccupied with something. I'm so ashamed by it - the thought of someone (especially my kids) seeing me would just kill me.

P.S. - I confessed to my husband that I ate way too much cheesecake today and he said, "Well, it was your birthday yesterday - you're aloud to." WHAT?? That makes no sense! lol Also, I had a salad w/romaine lettuce, grilled chicken breast, and fat free catalina dressing for dinner. Eric and the kids had breaded chicken patties on buns w/ranch and tater tots. Eric asked why I was having salad when chicken patties are good for me. I tried to explain that a salad was a much better choice. He gets upset with me when I try to eat healthy because he says he likes me the way I am. I told him it's not about him - it's about me obtaining the health I've always dreamt of. Just doesn't get it...

I did ask him to take the rest of the cheesecake to work with him tomorrow "because it will spoil before we eat it" (HA!) He said he would

Hey Katie, I totally get where the shame comes from. I'm the same about my binging, eventhough I havent had one in 10 days now (this is my 11th). I have only told 1 person about my binging, a friend of mine who also had an eating disorder like me (I'm a recovering bulimic). Recognising triggers is the 1st most important step. The setting up ways to avoid the binge when you recognise you're about to face a trigger.

This week I've taken a huge step in avoiding a massive binge trigger for me - evening time. Being at home and left to my own devices sets me off big time. So yesterday I went to the gym, and I plan to do the same this evening after work.

It takes time Katie to get it right. At the start you'll still have the occasional binge. It's how you pick yourself up after that will make the difference. And then, after a while, something in your head will just snap. You'll realise that you dont need the misery that comes with binging. And you'll just stop. That's what happened to me.

But in the mean time, keep blogging and post on here every so often. The support is great when you need it.

I think that's an acceptable fib! I sometimes have to pawn food off on others that don't have my same problem, I feel bad, but I know that they won't clear the pan in one sitting, so....

I tend to swap out addictions, so eating is only one of my poor coping techniques... one of the worst for my physical health. I'm still trying to find healthy outlets for my feelings. oh, I guess I didn't say Welcome... sorry... I'm just writing backward... so I'll end with Hello and hope you have a good day!

Thought this might help:

Tuesday August 26

Welcome to Losing It with Jillian Michaels, the newsletter designed to help you shed pounds, increase energy, and finally get fit for life!

Are You a Binge Eater?
If you're inclined to binge, the most important thing to do for yourself is to examine the emotional reasons behind your problem. I know that processing such emotions is hard and takes time, but here are some good techniques to help you modify your behavior and combat binge eating in the future:
Banish binge foods from your environment. Don't buy or store stuff that you can binge on. After all, you can't eat what's not there.

Try taking up a hobby. Keep yourself occupied so that rather than medicating yourself with food, you'll distract yourself with something productive.

Decorate your fridge with stuff that motivates you. I have two pictures on mine: One is a photo of my cellulite, and the other is of Madonna. Let me tell ya, there is nothing that will turn you off to food like pictures of cottage cheese on your butt.

Call a friend. The next time you want to stuff your face, reach out for support and try talking through your feelings instead of anesthetizing them by bingeing.

Do something to screw up your binge. In other words, pamper yourself with something that's positive as opposed to self-destructive. Get a mani-pedi. Take a bubble bath. Go to the gym. There are many places to go and activities to take part in that'll also lead you away from food temptations.

Real work takes time, so it's good to have some techniques to fall back on when life gets the better of you! And remember: one day at a time. If you do end up in a binge, work out a little harder the next day. Every day is a new one. Got it, kids? Cool.

Thanks for the info... all stuff I know I SHOULD do, but when I'm in binge mode, I don't always WANT to do.

I'm slowly getting back out of my binge... I'm still eating more than I need, but not nearly as much as those first couple days, I'm kinda weaning myself down.

S.O.S. Major binge mood and despair. I haven't started eating yet but the waves of depression are coming. I can't exercise the way I like and that hinders the recovery from binge thinking.
