Sarah, I truly hope that you are on a 5th day without a binge today. Get moving girl, you know it helps with staying strong and letting go of binge. See how strong you are now? You have a plan and you will succeed.

I am 155.5 pounds. It is not possible that I built 1.5 pounds of muscles in two days. HEHE. I wish. Something is off. I am not bingeing and I am exercising. I think that flying did it. I am still bloating and dizzy.

Jennifer, I found that when I reduce carbohydrates at dinner, it helps to stay away from bingeing. More protein and less sweets, even fruit, should do the trick.

Tina, how are you doing? I too know how hard it is for me to STOP. Sometimes, if I am alone at home, I say it very loud, STOP, this is bingeing, STOP RIGHT NOW. It's hard to break the trance of eating.

Eating fast is another habit I am trying to break. I aim for 10 minutes per meal at least.

Debbie, thanks for your suggestion. I will talk to my trainer today. How is lemon water, still working?

Dara, let us know about your visit. Please post here, I am worried about you . The weight gain is frustrating like h**l and I know, I myself always think about drastic measures, like starving for a few days... It's the other end of bingeing, food restriction.

I want to be honest about everything so I decided to change my ticker tomorrow if the weight is still 155.5 pounds. Ugh. The weight goal is not the ultimate measure of success, respecting myself and making good choices every day is.

ETA: Last night was a struggle with thoughts of bingeing. Instead of having nuts and sweets, I had a grapefruit and one crostini. And some herbal tea. I was still hungry and upset, and I had to talk to myself for an hour about NOT bingeing. It was hard.

I have been having binge attack thoughts for a week now. I can't stop them but at least I don't act out on them.

Tatiana - that is wonderful that you have remained binge free. Our minds so often lead us to cravings which are just that - cravings, they too will pass. What are you saying to yourself to get past them?

I know my weight could really fluctuate from a few days - the flight, a water retention thing, reshift in fat muscles, your body could be holding on if you're not eating as much as before, it will work itself out if you keep at what you are doing. you know you are being healthy in your eats and exercising. that is what really matters, yes? also, b/c you are so active in your exercise you will eventually have to do more to burn more calories - you know the more in shape you get the harder you need to work for a workout

i am pretty good. still some overeating but not super bingey. i'll take that during this stressful time. it's a good step. last night just did the one bowl of popcorn as planned. started to feel the binge urge, had one spoon of almond butter then quit. just strawberry water with ice and went to bed. that's good for me.

Debbie, I asked the trainer about weight. She measured me and it appears that I lost at least 2 pounds of lean muscles and 4 pounds of fat. I trust her measures and I am glad that we were able to identify the problem.

I am worried about losing muscles. She said that there could be two reasons for that: not enough protein and food in general and not enough weight lifting. I think both are true for me, although I eat 1300 -1400 calories every day. But not enough protein is true, too much carbohydrates and not enough weight lifting (I was in Hawaii - so only swimming and walking, and yoga).

We talked about skinny people being fat because they don't have muscles. I don't want to lose weight this way. And I can't push myself too hard due to tendonitis.

You also might be right, Debbie, about my body reaching a plateau. I lost at least 12 pounds in three weeks and now it stopped and even went back up 1.5 pounds. I am going to relax for a few days and see if the body starts releasing weight again.

Wow, only one bowl of popcorn as PLANNED. That's the key. I think that planning evening meals provides safety and security knowing that there won't be hunger and there are some healthy foods available rather than starving and seeking comfort in cookie dough. Hope you had a good night sleep too.

Sarah, how are you doing? Do you have a plan for tonight? What about you Tina?

This morning I was 156 pounds. I have no idea what is going on. Yesterday I exercised with the trainer for an hour, did 15 minutes on an elliptical machine, and walked fast for 1.5 hours. I burned about 770 calories by exercising and ate 1440 calories of nutritious food. I am at loss. Is it that sabotage thing I was afraid of?

I did not binge last night and have no intentions to binge today. ????????!!!!!!!

I had a plan... same as everyday, except that last night I knew I was having steak and rice (one of the few starches that I LOVE... I'm not too big on breads, etc.) so I ate a small breakfast and a small lunch, and enjoyed my entire steak and a decent pile of rice (and green beans... I LOVE my veggies) I was pretty full after that... not painfully full, but definitely not hungry AT ALL for the rest of the night.

Today is my weigh in for my team (go ROCKSTARS) and the Longest Loser challenge... I'm down 1 lb, but with that steak and rice still sitting in my digestive track... I'm happy with that! It puts me down 20lbs from when I started here at BuddySlim. I know that this is because of the encouragement and accountability. It's lonely losing alone... so I always go back to my old ways.... here, lots of people are doing the same thing and having the same struggles, and that helps me SO MUCH.

Thanks everybody!

Hi all! I am wondering Tatiana if your muscle is starting to form but at the same time holding onto some water which i have read can happen. I have also read....and although it may not make sense to folks....apparently it works. There is another site where I read the forums and they stand firm that we are too EAT THE CALORIES we burn. So if you normally eat 2500 calories and don't exercise....if you cut your calories down to 1400 and burn 500 exercising...your calorie count for the day is WAY to low at 900. They say cutting the calories to an amount you can lose weight at without exercising BUT still exercising.... eating the burned calories has the BEST results as you are not left with a deficit that over time puts your body into starvation mode.

Did I write that in a way it can be understood?? I hope so. What are your thoughts on that?

No binge last night....doing 3 miles today, Saturday and Sunday....weigh in Monday...hoping to be at about 142??

There is another site I read at....it explains this theory better. I only use BuddySlim now but still check out other forums.....here are the links to some very interesting information about what I mentioned in this post.

Sarah, it makes sense what you posted. It also goes against what I read about 1500 calories a day to lose weight. I will talk to my trainer about that because I exercise daily and burn at least 500-800 calories. Daily. It could be true that my body is starving, hence losing lean body mass along with fat and now actually gaining, trying to hold onto every calorie. Last night I went to bed hungry, hoping to see a loss this morning. Instead, I saw 0.5 pound of gain.

I will eat more today and see how it goes. My BMR is 1470 calories meaning that I would burn that much if I were lying in bed all day long.

Thank you so much Sarah for taking your time and posting the links.

And congrats with no bingeing last night.

Tina, that's great that you lost one pound and total of 20 pounds on BS. It tells a lot about your determination and hard work.

Tina, I think that saving calories is a good strategy but it wouldn't work for me on a long run. I would definitely overeat at night lying to myself that I CAN eat that much because I ate so little during the day. For me, it would be the same binge- thinking, restriction/binge cycle, even during one day. Also I think about the liver and spacing the meals evenly to let the liver process calories with ease instead of storing excess calories from one meal in fat.

oh, I def. agree... usually for me it's the same, but I knew for over 24 hours and KNEW that under NO circumstance would I binge... just for yesterday...

Remember not too many days ago, I completely went w/o dinner because I wasn't feeling strong enough to not binge after a reg. meal... BUT this time I could... I couldn't keep it up or I'd go into... well, I have _____ left from earlier.... EVERYDAY... but for yesterday, it worked, today, big breakfast, small/med. lunch, small/med. dinner small snack if hungry... if it's after dinner a Fiber One and water...

On to start day 5... I think... I'll have to go back and count!

Yes, all that Sarah said, too - just read that!

Keep strong Tatiana! Your body WILL change everyday. How about just weighing in once a week? The daily ups and downs would drive me crazy if I felt i was staying at that number, but weekly it made sense. Just an idea. Also, with all the exercise is that enough calories? Are you drinking your water and getting enough rest? Stress about it will hold that weight on as well

Am doing pretty well still - no big binges!

Will be off the computer probably all weekend due to the move. Take care!
