Default Did anyone see "I Can Make You Thin"?

There was this show on TLC last night called "I Can Make You Thin" hosted by Paul McKenna a famous self-help author from England. Everything he said made sense, like the fact that people need to slow down and savor their food instead of shovelling it in because then we might better realize when we are full. Also not to eat with any other distractions like TV, magazines, etc. for the same reason. It was very interesting, he'll be on for the next 5 weeks, Sundays at 9pm (eastern I think). There is also a website so If you want to see what happened last night I'm sure you can catch up, www.tlc.com/thin

The other thing I found quite interesting was that I was just starting to read a book on weightloss as well, by someone completely different and a few of methods Paul McKenna was talking about are in there as well.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone in on this interesting weightloss method. Good luck this week!

Actually, psychologists have found correlations there. The larger someone is, the faster they tend to eat. The also chew less. So, when I'm eating I try to chew more slowly...when I remember

Also in one of my weight loss groups they said taking a sip of water between each bite helps slowing down eating and feeling full more quickly. It can take half an hour for the food to really make you feel full..

Thanks for this info though!

I watched that when it was on in England. It's like anything though, it's got its true things and some that are silly. I do always try and eat slowly though, because you do fill up slower than you normally eat. Before I slowed my eating down, a sandwich and a yogurt would never fill me up, now I'm stuffed when I eat that. Good luck!!

I did see the show. I enjoyed it. A lot of what he said was common sense, but it's common sense you don't keep in your head on a conscious level. It's good to be reminded.

I saw it too, and thought it was really interesting. I even started "coaching" my mom on putting her fork down between bites, lol.

My problem is though, I eat even when I am not hungry. If only he had something to help with that lol

I didn't watch it, but it's supposed to take some time for the signals from the stomach to reach the brain that say you're full. So, slow is the way to go.

On another note, I highly suggest McKenna's self-image stuff. I keep one of his tapes on my mp3 player for when I have the time to use it.
