Hey everyone, a stressful time here....my son ,John is having surgery today. He was in a lot of pain last week with stomach cramps and finally went to the emergency room (his wife made him of course!) and they transported him by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene (about 35 miles from here) and said he has an abscessed colon and needs to have surgery asap. I am so tempted to calm myself with (what else) comfort food. Please send positive energy his way. I call it prayer, but we all all different and I don't care what you call it, just send it this way, please. Thank you so much.

Awww Sandy, sorry to hear that! I'll send prayers and positive energy and thoughts and good hopes and whatever else I can muster up!

I'm not doing great, at the same time I am. I'm not allowing myself to put me down, and it really seems to be helping. However, butthead is still being a jerk. It's a good thing, I suppose, that he hasn't called me since that night... I do miss him though.

My daughter is keeping me busy, to some extent. I'm broadening my friendship network and trying to find events to go to. I'm still lonely, but I'm trying to find things that I like by myself. (LOL at this moment, Elaina is singing "Happy to you!!!" in a VERY loud voice! Her 2nd birthday is coming up.. February 2).

As for eating? Well, I still do it. I can't really afford to get good foods, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I haven't been snacking at night as much. I need to tone... I have an event next month on Feb 16 and I want to look awesome for it. Especially since there's a chance that HE will show up. I just want to have a good time, and toning the arms and belly would help so much!

Hope you're all doing good.. sorry I haven't been coming on as much. I've been trying to keep busy, but I've been absolutely exhausted and haven't had the energy to do anything. Keep smiling Girls!

Thanks you guys! The surgery lasted 8 hours! He won't get a chance to talk to the doctor until his tests come back today, so not sure why it took so long or what the tests were for..........? Geez, don't they know a mama needs to know? I am ashamed to say that after being so careful to eat healthy, and tracking every single morsel for almost two weeks I 'went on a bender' yesterday and I'm still wondering what happened. Started with deciding to allow myself a snack size bag of popcorn in the afternoon.......then the dam broke. Followed up witha carrot-flax seed-apple-walnut muffin, that sent me over the edge and I had two flax seed cookies (with butter, they weren't evil enough) now I'm on a roll and go for a 'fun size' milky way and I'm eyeing the twinkies....but due to the fact that I was stuffed, I managed to rein myself in. I just hope I didn't blow all my hard work....I'll find out Sat. morning. Thanks for all your support, I'll try to deserve it.

Amanda.....I find that I spend less at the grocery store if I shop healthy. Meat and snack foods, prepared foods are the most expensive. You can get a lot more for your money if you buy vegetables and fruits, make your own snacks and deserts. Like no fat sugar free fruit yogurt (45cal) with fat free cool whip and sliced almonds on top... salad and veggies for dinner, maybe a little chicken. (I usually have hard boiled egg sliced on my salad if I don't have meat) Just don't get into the fast food habit. My downfall is afternoon snacking. If I just stay away from snacks............even a healthy one seems to set off a chain reaction, like yesterday's disaster.lol Just don't use expense as an excuse. If that were true why would the richest nations be the most unhealthy due to obesity? Instead of wishing you 'good luck' I will wish you 'good choices'. You can make them. (now I just have to follow my own advice) Let's make that our motto..."Good Choices" to all!

YOU TOTALLY DESERVE THE SUPPORT just not the crappy food You sound like me binging on healthy foods and then moving to the pure junk. Rein it in friend it's never too late and your son would want you healthy as can be!!!
Keep starting over if you have too, just keep going!

Hi everyone, my son is home from the hospital....8 hours of surgery and 18 inches of his colon removed and he is home and recovering very well. The day he came home we had a giant snow storm, about 10 inches. Almost 2,000 people in our town without power and that is a lot in a town of 9,000. Well, you don't know how much you appreciate it until it's gone. It came back on last night about midnight and we were so excited we couldn't go back to sleep. Now I have to tell you all about this great idea I had. I am giving up snacking for lent. Is that not a wonderful idea. I seem to be stuck on 175 and this just might do the trick. After all it would be like lying to God if I snacked, wouldn't it? lol Well, I'm doing it, we'll see what happens. Now I actually look forward to lent this year. You see I finally figured out how to get my picture on here....

Baked Salmon for dinner....with fresh steamed broccoli and for desert ff fruit yogurt with ff cool whip, sprinkled with sliced almonds (a tiny bit of honey drizzled on top) Should top of the day with a cool 1290 total for the day!!!!! Yay me. (if I could only do this every day)
