Red face Stop BINGE Eating

Guilty Guilty Guilty....I am a compulsive binge eater. Its gross!! I will plan the perfect lunch or dinner, then come home and just eat everything else in site. I'm not even hungry or bored or anything. I am just thinking food food food.

I am starting this thread to:

1. Have a place to dump my thoughts instead of binging

2. Meet other people with the same problem

3. Have a daily thread going where "serious" dieters/bingers get together and talk/read about each other.

We can LEARN and LOSE together!!!

I have the same problem from time to time. I definetly have traced the root of it to an emotional thing. If I am bored I reach for food, if I am tired-yep you guessed it, I reach for food. I also noticed I have a huge problem with smell. It may sound funny but there are times when I am not even hungry but I will smell some food my husband may be eating or anyone for that matter and I will then catch myself wanting eat even though I am not hungry. I actually learned a small trick for that. If its my husband eating something I have discovered if I indulge in a small taste of whatever it is then usually that craving or urge will go away.

I have the same problem. I will do great during the day, but as soon as I get home, it's like I forget I am dieting and eat whatever. I have started to get that under control now... or at least I hope lol. But yes, I completely understand where you are coming from.

Yeah, i do it too sometimes. My big thing lately?? we have no junk food in the house so I'll actually get out the cookbook and make my own cookie dough to munch on! how sick is that?! i can almost eat half a batch of cookies all by myself! (wow, that's the first I've shared that - dh doesn't even know!)
i will say i know it's wrong, and gross and disgusting but that doesn't seem to stop me. when i worked out of the home i would pack my meals too and do awesome throughout the day but i was just SOOO hungry when I got home I'd eat whatever was around. convenience is what it's about for me.

It was so great to hear everyones comments. I think it is def. and Emotional thing. I feel like i'm never hungary, but eat anyways. I'm sure i'm never hungry because I am always picking.

I totally binge eat when I'm stressed out. Brownies for an afternoon snack after a hard day at work, then dinner, then maybe another couple of brownies afterwards. Or ice cream. Funny, I always binge on sweets... Wonder why that is? It tastes fantastic and makes me feel better for a moment or two, but I know it's not worth the guilt and the thicker waistline later. Only recently have I been able to really stop myself and try to find a better way to keep myself busy other than eating. But when you do it so often, it's really hard to quit cold turkey!

Thumbs up Re: Stop BINGE Eating

Its nice to get replies on the binging. Sometimes when I'm at home eating ridiculous things, I think "I must be the only one this out of control". At least we are forming somewhat of a support group! I use Jolly Ranchers, they are sweet and sometimes help me not to binge out.

I binge too. Mostly at night. Mostly when I fear the scale tomorrow or when I have "blown it" Maybe if I go to bed right when I get home from work, I will get the pounds off. I know I eat way too much and I have a couple of successful days and then it is time for a dinner out! What am I thinking! Another time is on the way home from work -- drive thrus are my enemy. Most of the time I am only thirsty, but I still get the combo -- ugh
