Glad to have found this site and all of your honesty.
Wow, tell me about it! It is such a sad thing that something you must have to live can be such an addiction. I too have been anorexic and it is a never ending cycle. I would say you are at a great weight, no worries, but I know it doesn't matter what you weigh. I'm heavy now, but when I was under weight I still had the same feelings and urges. I think it is great to have an honest support group, so you don't think your the only one. I spent many years thinking "why can't I just be normal". Finally, I feel like "this is my reality", I can't do anything about my weight problems and emotional rollercoaster except accept the hand that was dealt to me and deal with it. I deal with food the same way I have to deal with family, work, or financial problems. Good Luck on your rollercoaster!

I've heard it said a couple times that after the first 3 bites of something you don't really even taste the food any more, you are just eating. So I tried it, I'd bought cookies for an event and gave the kids each one, had just enough that made about 2 bites and I was completely satisfied. Now keep in mind don't use up the three bites by taking huge ones Maybe it worked for me or maybe its all in my head. I really want to be good so I think it worked. The cookie was actually really sweet tasting to me and the 2 bites seemed fine. Try it, it might work for you

Funny, when you are eating healthier the things you used to think you loved don't taste as good as they once did.

Hello everyone, I do have a problem with binge eating. I remember the first time I binged I was 7 years old! It has been an ongoing problem ever since. I know that it's emotional issues forsure, and have recently decided to take up counseling. I guess food is my drug of choice. I've been self medicating for 17 years now. I am at my heaviest weight right now, besides when I was pregnant that is. I weighed less than this after I had my baby. It's really not an easy process trying to change the way that you think, and how you express your emotions. I hope that some of you understand that even though we take off the weight, our disorder will never go away without changing the way we think about food. It can't be taken in because of emotional reasons. We really have to sit and think about if we're really hungry. I have been juggling between 70 pounds since I was an adult. I'll lose it, i'll gain it, and so on. I am dieting right now, but I know it will never last unless I get help for my disorder.

I've been trying to lose weight for a long time!! So I have a lot of experience with binging. One thing I've noticed though, at a point when I wasn't attempting to lose weight (no exercising or dieting), I didn't binge as often when I was on an actual diet plan. I also managed to maintain my weight without diet and exercise. In my first couple attempts to lose weight I would become so concerned about cutting calories and literally starving myself, I craved more! I've learned that cutting so many calories could actually slow your metabolism and put your body in survival mode, meaning whatever you eat, your body will hold on to it much longer instead of burning it off. So I've decided to try a new approach, I don't cut calories, in fact I eat any and everything I want, but I've learned moderation and how to make better choices like more fruits and veggies and whole grains, but If I want a piece of cake too, I'll have it!! Now only if I can keep up with the exercise!! LOL

I haven't much luck losing the weight. I haven't been binging but I also think that has to do with my mind set. I'm kinda like Porscha. When i'm not really thinking about my weight, I end up maintaining it because I eat less, and do what feels right. When I get depressed I seem to just give up and binge like an alcoholic. That's when I gain weight. I got some disturbing news yesterday that my husbands going back to Iraq for 15 months. He's already been twice for a year each. I gained about 30 pounds the last time he was gone. I have gained 20 more since he's been home. I'm now 100 pounds overweight. I know it will be very easy for me to fall back into depression because I'm in Germany with none of my family. I guess the only option for me is get it together so I can change my lifestyle. I have to stop being freaking lazy!

I just read through this thread and saw how many people had binge eating problems. I wonder how many are still battling this and where did they all go.

I don't necessarilly binge, but I eat needlessly. I will go throughout the day eating veggies and when I get home I want to eat fatty foods, meats, cheese, sweets, and it hinders me from loosing these last couple pounds. I've found a way to kindof help it, grapes. Ill open the fridge, get two or three grapes and be done. My other two problems are sleep and bordem. When I get bored I seemingly cant help but to eat and eat, I just pick. I will also wake up in the night and when I do I eat. Its good to finally get my thoughts down though, so thank you!
