Default Social Diet Clubs (kind like Weight Watchers)

January 2nd of last year, I started a diet club, here at work. Every week, we all would weigh in. If you gained weight, you would put in a dollar for each pound you gained. At the end of each month, the person who lost the most for the month, received the money. We started with 7 members and now it's just me , but I was wondering if anyone has/had anything similar going? If so, how do you keep people motivated to stay on board? I've sent out weekly diet/exercise tips and recipes, etc, but I'm not sure what else to do. I would like to re-enage the old members and possible add a few new ones for 2007. Selfishly, this helps me stay accoutable. It's like my own personal Weight Watchers meeting.

What a cool idea! I don\'t have experience in starting anything like this, but it sounds like what you need is some incentive for people to stay invovled, even if they\'re not losing. Maybe everyone could contribute a small amout ($5 or so) at the beginning of the year, and that went into a \"grand prize\" pot. If you had $10, you\'d have $50 to start with. Then you earn entries towards the \"Grand Prize\" just by weighing in each month. At the end of the year, you put all the entries into a hat and draw a name. That way you\'re rewarding accountability & consistency, even in months where not everyone has a loss, and people might be more likely to stick with it through their tough months.
I think you should still keep the monthly reward too, for whoever loses the most that month, etc - but this longer term one might help keep people motivated!
