I was wondering if any of you who are on birth control have experienced weight gain or a hard time losing weight? I was on the pill, but just switched to the depo shot. Which after I got the shot realized that is can cause weight gain, but I'm sure if I keep doing what I am doing I will be fine. What are you on? How do you like it? We aren't ready to make a final decision with a "snip snip" so I gotta stay on something. Those hormones!!!

When I was on birth control (years ago!!) it was a well known fact that it causes weight gain. I think it\'s just one of those things you have to live with!!

One of my friends gained quite a bit of weight from using the shot...but since your excersing it shouldn\'t hold you back.

I was on the shot for 10 years every was fine. I did gain some weight but maintained it. I changed to the pill and balloned. Right now I did the snip, snip and I am still kind of balloned.

Word of advice...don\'t do the snip snip til you are SURE...DH did the snip snip about 13 yrs ago b/c we thought we were sure we were done - then years later we wanted just one more - he did the reversal thing about 5 or 6 yrs ago and well we never had anymore just didn\'t work. Just be sure! Back to the question at hand when I was on the pill I always gained some.

My daughter did the depo shot and it had horrible results for her as far as weight gain and about a half a year after she quit taking it she lost most of her weight. But like her doctor told her if you don\'t watch what you eat then you will gain weight...So I think you will be okay as long as you keep doing what your doing.

Okay, I know it\'s a really old thread but...
I was on the depo for a year right after my third child was born. I gained 30 lbs. and had such horrible depression. The depression also happened with the pill. We decided to have one more and I went off of it. It took 6 years for me to get pregnant when before it was a blink of the eye.
Now that we have four children, we was decided that I would make it a permanent finish. I\'ve been so much happier!

I had my last depo shot 2 months ago and not getting another one... It was horrible... the first few times I got the shot I was fine... But then started being hungry all the time and no matter what I ate it just got worse... I gained 15lbs in 3 months... My hormones were so out of wack I was not the same person I had been... I loved not having to worry about birth control but for me its not worth the weight gain... I thought I could control it as well... Guess it just wasn\'t my piece of cake!
