Hey Ankit,
I really like your tips. I actually used a similar system when I decided to lose weight. Step 4 was a major factor for me in losing weight; I used the "just feel-good factor" but took it a step further. I wanted to reward myself upon reaching my target weight loss goal with something a bit more tangible (and I'm not talking about a double fudge brownie, haha) – from the beginning I wanted to use some kind of jewelry as my motivator. I tend to revere jewelry in a very sentimental manner, since most of it has been the marking of something major in my life, such as a gift from my mother on my 16th birthday, or a present for graduating college. I decided to apply the same thing to the piece of jewelry that I wanted to get as the reward for my weight loss, and to do something like an engraving with it as a way to document what it meant to me.
When I finally achieved my goal, I ran right to the computer to start researching the tremendous gift to myself. I came across Jewelry Information Center (
www.jic.org), where I was initially lured in by how clean and nicely-laid out the site was. Upon further inspection, I realized that JIC is exactly what their name is: an information hub on all things jewelry. Their site had shopping tips, jewelry trends, gift ideas, and cleaning information (to name a few things). Additionally, there was an endearing stories section really caught my eye. People are sharing all their stories about how their various pieces of jewelry came to be. A few of them inspired me enough to ultimately get me to post my weight loss story. I found out after the post I was enrolled in a sweepstakes for a diamond necklace (I could always use that!).
JIC’s site is all-around very informative, and the shared stories on there are wide-ranging and quite fun to read through. If they don’t inspire you to reward yourself with something sentimental like a bracelet, or necklace, I’m not sure what to tell ya! It worked wonders for me; my bracelet makes me proud and is the driving force behind how and why I’m able to keep the weight off. It was the best thing I ever did for myself (aside from getting healthy to begin with, of course)!
Keep up the good work – you are wonderful for giving out the tips that you do.You’re certainly knowledgeable on the subject and I can only imagine how much help you’ve been to many people!
