Default Inspiration

I have been attending photo school now for the past three years, and I have learned that the one thing that dictates my motivation is my INSPIRATION! How can I be motivated when I don't know the exact reasons for my doing something? I'm inspired to lose wieght because my boyfriend looks better in my thong then I do. I'm motivated to work out at the gym because I want to look better in my thong!! Another thing that keeps me going is this awesome inspirational poster that I think another student made for an assignment. It says " MISTAKES-It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others" with a photo of the Titanic sinking. I have found that this helps me with any of life's challenges.

You know what's so funny? I was looking up inspirational (weight loss) quotes, and keep repeating the best ones in my head all day long...and it works! As stupid and corny as they might sound, they keep me going, because if all you say to yourself is "I think I can, I think I can", you really will. "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

One really good motivator/inspirational trick is to think about (and visualize if you can) what the long term benefits of proper eating and good exercise habits are. Virtually everything most of think about centers around the very short term (crappy job, bitchy girlfriend, got a speeding ticket, ...etc). If you can pick out one or two visuals (how hot you'll look 1 year from now, maybe visualize yourself in your thong or bathing suit or whatever, maybe visualize how much energy you'll have - visualize finishing a marathon or climbing a mountain, ...etc) Doesn't really matter what your visual is, as long as you find it inspirational. As many times during the day as you can remember, recall that picture, thought, goal or whatever it is. That keeps the long term benefit (which we often forget about) fresh in the mind (at least for me anyway) and are a really good motivator. It is also a really good technique to fight-off doing the stupid short-term things we all do (overeat, skip exercise, ...etc).

My friend told me something recently that really hit me in a good way. "You can make all the excuses you want to not lose the weight but 2 months from now all your gonna have is excuses and no results" that hit me pretty deep cause its extremely true. We can bitch all we want about being overweight or we can do something about it. Yes it is a sometimes painful process but our bodies will love us for it!
