Unhappy But How?

I'm a newbie to this site (just joined today actually), so excuse me if I'm totally off subject or .. I don't know. Lol. I kind of don't know where to begin, but I know motivation is the biggest thing for me, so I gravitated toward this forum.

I was just wondering.. how do you guys stay motivated? Like.. *really* motivated? I have my moments in the morning, where I start optimistic and say "it's a new day, I can do this!" .. but as the day gets on, I just start to falter at my diet or workout goals, and by the end of the night, I have binged at work and feel all gross and bloated, and think to myself "tomorrow will be different".. with the same cycle.

I have the motivation in my head, I guess.. I want to get healthy and in shape. But, lately I'm having trouble really keeping it up, and keeping it to the point of where it's actually going to be a factor in how I live my life. Does that make sense?

Basically, it crumbles down to: I have terrible will power

Luka!

Welcome to BuddySlim... I'm fairly recent too.

As for motivation? I have no idea... I'm in the exact same boat you are. I FEEL like I want to, have MANY good intentions... but then it just peeters out as the day progresses. It sucks! I can't seem to get off my ass and do things no matter what's going on in my head

But perhaps we can motivate each other, or at least brainstorm ways to do it!!! Smiles your way!!

Hi there! I just stumbled upon this thread.. and have to say... Luka, not sure if you got the answer you were looking for.. and who am "I" to give advice, but truly, if you can get your workout done in the morning.. then your new day attitude will be even MORE positive! You will feel great all day then.. causing you to eat better, because you won't want to ruin what you accomplished in the day! I find it really works for me.. I dread getting home late, wanting to play with my little guy and knowing I have my "cardio" looming ahead... If I can get action in the morning and get it "done".. I am much happier in the day!
It is tiring at first.. but you quickly get used to it and find that lower energy in the day level pick right up!!!

Cheers!

I stay motivated by making myself not only accountable to myself but to someone else who is 110% behind me. That doesn't have to be someone physically right next to you, but someone online, on the phone, through email or whatever it might be. Being able to get ahold of someone (even if its just through an email) I find it awesome as once I get the motivation vent off my chest I feel better and am able to stay focused on my day. My ticket shows I've lost 1lb but that was prior to getting pregnant and having my last baby. I lost 36lbs prior to this last pregnancy and all this definitely helped. Good luck!

I've had unsuccessful attempts at weight loss so I know exactly what it means for motivation to peater out. I'm feeling so pumped this time around (I start tomorrow) but I think it's because I planned ahead for a week. I organised my exercise program and paid ahead (I'd hate to loose the money now!), I wrote down my goals for weight and exercise, I joined this site and I just planned and shopped for my meals for the next 2 days. I've never been this organised! Plus, I've made lots of public claims to my friends so I'd hate to back out.

Hope this can be helpful. Maybe just take some time to come up with a solid plan.

Motivation is the kind of thing that is in the eye of the beholder. It is different for each of us. You need to look deep in yourself and find out what it is worth to you. Is that you want to be healthy so you can keep up with your children family friends loved one spouse. Is it so you can ease some health ailment like diabetes, high blood pressure, or a heart condition. For me my motivation is to feel proud of myself for doing something I know will take time patience and inner strength. To keep me going I journal and I like to compile quotes articles etc that make me feel good about what I am doing.

So just sit down and think about what you want most out of your lifestyle change what your inner goal is not a physical one. What do you want to feel like when you are where you want to be?

I'm new too. Thanks for this thread. Is it just me or are the boards here really positive and friendly?
