Default Closed: Happy Hearts~new group~Welcome

Hi and Welcome to "Happy Hearts"

When the year began I decided to not follow tradition. You know the new years resolution at the first of Jan that ends before the month does. I decided to start my journey January 26, 09 and presently have lost 11 lbs. and 20 inches.

I would love you to join this group. All that is ask of you is that you post daily. Share a tip, quote, recipe, new discovery, your challenges, your progress, your goals.

Each week I can literally feel myself becoming more excited, healthy, strong, and confident. My self-esteem has improved greatly and I find myself feeling full and satisfied because I am eating right and exercising more. My only regret is having put it off and not having decided to take myself seriously sooner, but....its never too late. Sometimes its as simple as "mind over matter", just getting started. So your here, you've already begun, and good for you.
The greatest gift we can give ourselves and those we love is a happy, healthy lifestyle and that's what our whole focus is here.

How true this is. Why are we so hard on ourselves? Would we say the things to a friend if she were trying to lose weight, of coarse not.
Be kind to yourself. This is a lifelong journey, and their will be bumps in the road, setbacks, come to expect the unexpected, but its not the end, its only the beginning, as you learn more about yourself. Practice positive self-talk.

Tip: get some Post-Its and write positive statements, then stick them around the house, above your sink, on the bathroom mirror, on your closet door, on the refrigerator, around your computer screen, on the dashboard of your car. Positive reminders to lift your spirits.

So what motivates you? I was looking through my personal journal this morning, and as I looked back over the past few weeks and how far I have come in such a short time I found my spirits lifted, and self-pride. I said to myself, "I'm doing it"..."I'm on my way". I encourage you to try it. If you don't journal perhaps that would be something new you would like to try. Just something to think about!

Boy you move fast. You just joined buddy slim and already starting a group. Good for you.
I, on the other had started very slowly. I join BS to use the food journal then after a couple of weeks or so I started reading some of the blogs so I decide to create a blog (my first ever). Then a couple of week ago I joined the ONEDERLAND group.
I started my journey the last half of 2008 (half-heartedly) At the end of June I dug out my scale bc I knew I gained a bit of weight. I saw 249.6, "HOLY COW how did that happen?" So, I started to watch it a bit & started eating breakfast (huge thing for me). Sometimes I thought what does it really matter but the more I kept going the more I felt I SHOULD do this. I sloowwly lost 17 lbs over the next 5 month. Then I maintained for a month through the holidays. After the first of the year I no longer felt I SHOULD do this, I felt I WANT to do this. So, I declared to my kids (14 & 16) "2009 is mine". Jan 9th I started a eating plan @ 232.4, Joined BS Jan 12th to date I have lost 21.2 lbs (211.2) since Joining Buddy Slim. Total = 38.4 lbs Since BS doesn't show partial pounds my ticker started me at 232 & I round up, it shows me at 212. The last time I measured was on March 6th, I had lost 12 1/4 inches. I finally got around to exercising two weeks ago.
Oh, my eating plan is a high protein, low fat 1200 -1400 calorie diet. I am going to be 50 this Aug and would love to be at 175 for that.
So, that is pretty much everything about me. (maybe more than you want)

Hello everyone, this sounds like an inspiring thread. I have two kids 15 and 17 and have had some thyroid issues, I'm on a new dose of medicine and feeling good. I don't really like "excercising" but I like getting outdoors and going for walks and hikes. I started BS at the beginning of March and I really like the way everyone helps each other out.
