Hi Kama
No, you don't have to follow the menus, just eat the foods that are on the allowed list. You can take one multi-vitamin if you're not already taking one. I don't know how you're shopping now, but basically, you have to stick to veggies, lean protein (low-fat turkey and low-fat meats and poultry). Cheeses have to be low-fat, k? And yogurt non-fat or low-fat PLAIN. Nothing white (no potatoes, no high starch veggies, no rice, no bread and for the first two weeks, NO FRUITS). I have to admit that it was easier to start but halfway through Phase 1, it got difficult, so expect hard times the first two weeks, after that, as long as you keep on plan, it's a breeze. Any and all questions you have, please ask. Oh and you are allowed sugar free jello and fat-free cool whip!! Ah....don't forget your seving on nuts (healthy oils) per day. Since I have been OFF my diet for the last 3 weeks, and you're starting, I vow that starting today, I too will follow SB Phase 2, 100%. If you still have any more questions, call me, I'll e-mail you my number!

Ok, that helps alot. So I really don't have to change what I'm buying that much, cool. I think the only thing will be the nuts and plain yogurt. and I can get lowfat cheese. That helps. Yes, please send me your number? Thanks, much!

Hi guys...wanted to know if I could the South Beach Sun Bathers! I started the diet last night and am ready to lose some weight again. I lost my first 10 pounds easy and now have been losing a gaining the same three pounds for over a month. I want to lose at least 8 - 10 pounds before my 40th birthday in June. Went to the grocery last night a bought eggs, low fat cheese, Canadian bacon, turkey and lots of salad mix and veggies. Phase 1 of this diet seems to be a lot like the Atkins diet. Couple of questions....I am a little worried about getting constipated in phase 1 (sorry so blunt)! I also worried about getting headaches and loss of energy. I have been doing BikramYoga (hot yoga) three times a week which is pretty intense and am worried that I may not have the energy to do the class. Just a few concerns but ready to give it a try. We are going to the international festival today where there are lots and lots a great food and spirits but I am confident that I will make the right choices today!!!

Ok, big question for you ladies who work. How do you manage breakfasts on Phase 1?? I'm still checking this all out. Will have to wait to start until I get everything planned (sorry limited budget) need to check with my dr, too. But I am also concerned because I have to be at work so early, and I rely heavily on convenience foods like instant oatmeal. Thanks

Hi ladies:
Ok, here's the deal....breakfast....I like plain lowfat yogurt and I put in a little bit of SUGAR FREE Jell-o powder for taste. There's also a recipe in the book for keish...which by the way, I've made and love. You can add different veggies to the mix to make it better, but you can make those on Sunday and heat them up throughout the week. It does take more planning than most other diets and more cooking, but it's totally worth it. If you're worried about how it will affect your exercise and constipation, I highly recommend you start on Phase 2. Just limit your whole wheat carbs to maybe one per day and your fruits, to one piece per day for about two weeks and then slowly introduce more of the stuff. That's EXACTLY what I am doing tomorrow. I fell flat on my face off the wagon and instead of starting over on Phase 1, I'm starting on Phase 2 tomorrow! And for me, eating infront of the boob tube is a problem, so I am limiting my TV viewing to only 1 show per night and ABSOLUTELY no food while on the couch. Good luck ladies, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. The forum seems kind of slow lately, I will remind the other beachers to check-in and give you ladies advice!!

Okay ladies......... I have an announcement to make!

I won't be on here as much anymore, at least for a few months...... I just found out that I'm pregnant!
We just found out this weekend, but I've had a feeling for a couple weeks now, it was only confirmed today.
So ofcourse, I will not be trying to lose weight or hanging out on the Beach with you as I'd planned. However, I do plan on keeping in touch weekly or so as I do want to lose all this weight as soon as the baby is born. Plus, I want to enjoy a healthy pregnancy and still eat healthy and be active.
Thought I'd let you know the news.

You can do that? You don't have to start with Phase 1? That makes it so much more workable for me!! I didn't know that!!
Good luck to you! And thanks!!
