Welcome aboard Jill!! How about lentils? I'm still struggling with the eggs thing, I guess after awhile it gets pretty boring. The good news is that this is only during Phase 1, after that you can add whole grains (cereal & oatmeal--althought I know they have to be all-natural or something like that)!! Glad you're here with us Jill!

Exclamation Re: South Beach Sun Bathers

WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE GROCERY STORE ON A FULL STOMACH?

Last week when I went grocery shopping for Phase 1 of South Beach, I went immediately after dinner...well guess what? NOTHING look appealing! Fast forward one week later and I go to the store on an empty stomach. Go figure, I actually came home fully stocked! This only works if your motivation and drive is 100% for the time being, otherwise you should go on a full stomach.

The other reason why this could've happened is because I was so limited last week, that now I'm open to different veggies!! LOL!

How's everyone doing here at the Beach?

Exclamation Liven Up Plain Yogurt!

I love my Activia yogurt in the morning, but since I can no longer have it, I bought PLAIN. The problem is, I don't care for plain. I tried putting almond and vanilla extract--nothing!! I read somewhere to put sugar free jello powder in the yogurt and mix it!

I just tried it and guess what? IT'S DELICIOUS! Even better than the flavored Activia. So if you need to get your calcium in and want yogurt (I use it for digestion), put some sugar-free jello in the mix and you're good to go!

One important TIP, don't put too much--I did. It only takes a little bit!

Hope this helps at least one person here!

I'm here! I'm here! Waving hand ~~~~~~~~
I have my new swimsuit just in from Land's End and my flip flops and a big ol terry towel. I'm ready for some serious beach action!

I love South Beach Phase II and really try hard to stay there pretty much as just a healthy way to eat.

Those of you on Phase I, STICK WITH IT, k? It can get a little boring, but PULEEEEEEZ just stick it out. I can promise you won't regret it.

Big HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGS,
Shan

Jo, if you're really really hungry, then you are not eating enough! That's what's great about Phase I. You don't have to count calories or anything, and other than those foods listed with restricted amounts, you can eat as much as you want to of everything else on the list. Up your protein. Snackintg on pork tenderloin is a great hunger buster!

Hugggggggggs,
Shan

Try increasing the protein if your still hungry and have a mouthful of protein first at each meal (don't know why thats just what I was told). And also make sure you eat the snacks even if you don't feel like them

For breakfast I sometimes cook up green beans, zucchinni, brocclli, cauliflower and the melt my cheese over the top of it, or have philly cheese melted over it.
I also make omelettes with a bit of chicken in them and have with tomato/ onion/ zucchini/ garlic on the side. I just make a pot of this and keep it in the fridge.
or make a frittata
onion
garlic clove
grainy mustard 2 teasp
2 eggs
1/2 lb broccolli or other greens
saute onion and garlic, put mustard, garlic, eggs, garlic in a bowl and mix, add some pepper 7 herbs. Put the broccolli in a ramekin and pour egg mix over it. Bake for 20 minutes, add some cheese on top a few minutes before taking out of oven.

or you could make up some lentil patties and have them with the tomato / zucchinni mix on top

hang in there, it's only the first two weeks and then you can have a bit more variety.

have a great day on the beach!

Question Portabella Mushrooms

Guys I bought some Portabella Mushrooms and don't know what to do with them...any recipes? Easy ones? I'm not much of a cook, but now with SB, I'm going to have to learn!
