Default Salad Dressings

****I need ideas!* I love salad but I also love Ranch dressing and it's loaded w/ bad stuff so I haven't any of the regular ranch BUT I've tried Fat free Ranch (it's bad - I don't like it)* I've tried Fat free Italian (I don't like it)*any suggestions.* I put the fat free dressing on my salad and I had the salad and don't end up eating it but I love salad w/ the regular stuff - so I need some help because I'm determined not to eat the regular dressings that loaded with calories and other stuff.* HELP!!

I just use oil & vinegar.* If you buy really good vinegar (I like balsamic), you only need a very small amount of oil (way less than a tsp).* Works for me anyways

Sure, it's a standard type of salad dressing.* Lots of people add other seasoning to the mixture too (salt or whatever).

The big thing is to go very easy on the oil, which is all fat.

when I was going to ww they used to fork dip method.* dip your fork into your dressing and only eat a bit of lettuce with whats on the fork.* you use way less that way!

I found a fat free dressing, called Henderson's Unique dressing and marinade, its italian-like, but sweet and very good.* Its my favorite.* As for ranch, there's a low fat BLT ranch by hidden valley that is good, but its not fat free.

Forget the dressing.* Try tossing in some pineapple chunks or mandarine oranges packed in their own juice with just a bit of the juice, or some diced apple.* Or add all three.* You don't even need dressing!

Make your own italian and use real, good, cold pressed olive oil and mix it to use the least amount that tastes good to you.* Olive oil is good for you anyway so you can justify a few extra calories.

LORI~

I do EXACTLY what Joan says, because I could not find an acceptable ranch dressing...
*
I order it on the side, and then lightly dip my fork in it...You would be AMAZED at how little you actually use!
*
I rarely get dressing on the salad anymore...
*
Now I love all kinds of dressings, but I had to work my way up to that...
*
Give it a try!

Lori,
I am like you I love Ranch on my salad so I have had a very hard time with this myself but I love salads...I finally found a Rasberry Vinagerette that I love and Wish Bone has a salad dressing spray that I love which is a balsamic vinagerette the rasberry is low in fat and calories and so is the balsamic...Give those a try and let me know what you think.*** I have also started experimenting with putting different things in my salad like fruits , raisins, beans.*
*
Mary,
I love your idea on the pineapple and mandirin oranges and use some of thier juice..I have to try this now!**
