Question Midnight snack?

I am up late hours of the night due to my school/work schedule and I often get hungry but I don't know what to eat! I am tempted to reach for that bag of tortilla chips or chocolate bar but I am trying to eat healthier (especially at night). Any suggestions for a late night snack that is tasty and light?
Thanks!

My late night snack of choice is fat-free or lowfat yogurt. It's light but has plenty of protein and some vitamins. And have you seen that commercial where they suggest putting a Yoplait Whips in the freezer? Mmmmm... that's really good too. I like the lime or orange ones like that; nearly tastes like sherbet.

Generally fruits, like apples or bananas. Banana is like mother nature's cereal bar to me. Cottage cheese with a bit of berries works too, or 7 to 10 nuts. If I feel like something more comforting, I'd boil up cauliflower, broccoli or grean beans, sometimes adding 1/2 to 1/4 of can of mushroom soup to make 1-2 cups of soup. Best of all though to have soup already, chicken or fish, mmgh.... Sometimes, a toasted slice of whole-wheat bread, or 1/8 cup of raisins... I dunno, it depends on what I feel like. Generally with only a few minutes invested one can wipe up a pretty healthy option.

My favorite favorite snack (also at night, but as an afternoon one too) is red or yellow pepper cut into strips with hummus. Low-cal and delicious!

Mmm- that stuff sounds great! Thank you guys! I never really thought of the hummus thing- i LOVE hummus but don't like to eat it alone (I have a fresh batch in my fridge now lol). before, I would just eat the hummus with the tortilla chips- but like I said, trying to stay away from those! :-/ But fresh veggies is a good idea! Are pita chips a healthy option too?
I think I need to go shopping and buy some more fresh fruits as well. I'm going on vacation this week so the house has been void of healthy 'quick' snacks as of late. I'm just worried sticking to eating healthy is going to be harder once I'm away from home!

100 calorie packs of popcorn. They are a HUGE serving and full of fiber, too. Great for the muchies because the bowl seems to go on forever!

Apples would do and some bananas..
If you want something refreshing that reminds you of sweet, try low-fat yoghurt and fruit.

veggies or pita chips and hummus are a great idea! I also like cashews/almonds or trail mix, rice cakes, dried fruit, or yogurt with some granola.

Hi Rosie, I see you said you like chips, how about some low-fat, low sodium, corn tortilla (nacho) chips (a large handful) and about 2 tablespoons of salsa (homemade is best, but even the jarred kind is not so bad).

Or a lighter option is Orville Smart Pop 100 calorie bags (no salt or butter, but if your like me and need a little bit of flavor, try adding some paprika which is good for weightloss.)

You also mentioned chocolate bars. Big Turk bars are a special treat as they have chocolate and turklish delight, but still low in fat. Or, try buying some small individually wrapped dark chocolate bars. But remember, only have 1 each time! Store them somewhere hard to reach, so your not reaching all the time!

Other then that, fruit, veggies, cup of soup (low-sodium), 1 slice 12 grain toast (or wheat) with peanut butter, lots of options, remember it doesnt have to be a "snack" food to make a good snack!

Good luck!
