Exclamation This info is for Aspartame, Splenda, Equal users

I found this info while researching safe sugar substitutes and I recommend it to everyone.

SweetLeaf Stevia

A short summary:

STEVIA HAS NO CALORIES AND CAN ACTUALLY BE GOOD FOR YOU!

Stevia is a naturally sweet plant native to Paraguay that is 30 times sweeter than sugar in its unprocessed form. With hundreds of studies showing Stevia is a safe alternative, it’s the next big thing. No wonder. It's all-natural, contains zero calories, and has a zero glycemic index. The pure glycosides that are extracted from the Stevia leaves are 250-400 times sweeter than sugar.

With endless recipes, Stevia products are great for beverages, soft foods, and baking. Stevia is also convenient for cereal and fruit and is stable for both heating and freezing.

Wow thank you so much. I am going to look into this. Sugar substitutes like equal and sweet n low are so bad for you. I still use them b/c i'm so calorie conscience. Splenda is better for you, but i can't eat it. For some reason it gasses me all up and it gross. This seems like a healthy alternative. Thanks!

I have found that Splenda is good and supposedly better for you than some of the others.
Splenda is lighter weight than granulated sugar so I put it in a real sugar shaker and tell myself it is the real stuff, just fluffed up a bit.

Splenda is made of chlorine and is not calorie free. Stevia is calorie free.

I do like Stevia, but I've never seen it at our commissary. I use Splenda, but only occasionally. I try to minimize my sweets intake, B/C I am still not entirely assured that Splenda is safe. I've heard that it causes Spinal and Bladder cancer.
I had heard that before, but my mom (who is a nurse) had a patient a while back that was an avid splenda user (His wife said that he drank a gallon of Splenda Tea per DAY!!!) and had come down with Spinal Cancer... So yeah. It's a bit scary. I try to use any artificial sweetener as rarely as possible.

Stevia rocks. My hubby and I use it in our coffee and there are flavored ones that you can add to water. You can get it in a liquid (you only use a couple of drops at a time so it lasts like a billion years) and also in a powder form. I would recommend it to anyone. No weird aftertastes which is very cool in my book!
