They do sell it, as I said, but this is much better. And you can adjust ingredients to suit your taste. There's something about the stuff you buy that I just don't like.

Your right! Its better 2 just make things home made b/c u can add what you want. Everything bottled is loaded with sodium but the problem is who has time 2 make their own dressing? The way our society is (especially in new york) we are always rush rush rush!! Honestly to im just 2 lazy 2 make it id rather use just vinegar on my salad or buy dressing. LOL Lazy old me. Im proud of you though for making your own dressing. I give you props girl!

I love Thousand Island. I bought the Taste 2 Good Thousand Island and it does taste pretty good. But, I really want to try this recipe out. Thanks so much. I looks very good.

Default Salad Dressing

Do you like the taste of Thousand Island dressing in restaurants, but not the fat and calories? For some reason, the bottled dressings just don't taste the same. I made up some Thousand Island at home that is very low in fat and less than half the calories of fat-free. All you do is take 1 cup Miracle Whip Lite (fat-free Miracle Whip will eliminate the fat, but I don't like the taste of it), add about 2 tablespoons sweet relish, basil leaves, a pinch of paprika, a pinch of garlic, some finely minced onion, about 2 tablespoons ketchup and about 1 tablespoon mustard. I say "about" on the measurements cuz I didn't measure anything exactly. You can change the quantities to suit your taste This is much better than the bottled stuff and lower in calories. Two tablespoons only has about 20 calories and about 3 grams of fat.

Sounds good Mary but don't they sell the low fat version of it? My fav. dressing is french and ranch. Lately I haven't been putting any dressing on my salad for the fact that they contain allot of sodium and I can't have sodium or i'll puff up like a balloon and I really don't want to take over the counter water pills all the time. They have asprin in them and my liver is already messed up, it dosent need to be messed up any more.
