Default Olean question

Any body ever have trouble w/Ruffles light products (doritos, chips, etc)? I had some today for the first time and was very excited because they fit in my menu for the day. Wow, w/in a couple of hours I had a very bad upset stomach. And it continued. I remembered something a few years ago about Olean causing digestive problems but figured that it must have been worked out since it was still on the market. Guess not. Looked info up online and much to my chagrin, lots of other people have had the same problems I did. Fortunately, I think mine is over but some people wind up in the ER!! Anyone else ever have a problem w/it? Just curious. Oh yeah, I immediately threw them in the trash.......

Most of the products that have Olean in them indicate on the packaging that large consumption of the production will cause the effect you suffered.

I think that was what blew me away. I ate the serving size. All I kept thinking was what would have happened if I had pigged out?!! Glad I figured that one out quick.[

I eat them all the time and have never really had a problem with them. The first time I ate them, I did have mild cramps. I think what happens is, something about the olean cleanses the intestines. I drink Ballerina Slim tea several times a week, which cleans out the intestines. The first time I drank it, I had severe cramps until I\'d evacuated my bowels thoroughly, but after two or three days of drinking a cup a day, the cramps eased and quit, because my system was cleaned out.
If I\'m not mistaken, the same thing happens with the olean. And since I drink the tea several times a week, it doesn\'t bother me.

You are probably referring to Olestra. Olestra is found in Wow, Tositos, Sun Chips, Cheetos, Cracker Jacks, Lays, Ruffles, Grandma\'s, Sanitas, etc. The side effects are abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

OLESTRA
