Question PMS and its effect on dieting

I was surprised to do a forum search and see nothing on PMS. I most definitely feel the hormone drop the week before menstruation, and my resolve to eat right gets very weekened. I eat the wrong things for emotional reasons. I am weepy and carb loaded at that time.

Anyone else?

Dee

Yeah, that is not a fun time for me. Even when I wasn't watching the cals I would be shocked at how much food i was craving. I had more hunger, more cravings and a comprimised emotional state--lol. NOT a good combination!

The past PMS wasn't bad but I wonder if it is because it was the start of the new 'diet' and I still have all that momentum. I was thinking of trying to come up with sensible alternatives for the things I usually crave beforehand...fro yo instead of ice cream kind of thing...IDK...anyone else have real experience?? lol

I've got that going on right now. Ate 1/2 a bag of minimarshmallows this morning after breakfast. Bleh. Then ate lunch and a post-lunch snack and I could still eat anything that was handed to me at this point. Gimme!

Is it just weird that it makes me feel better to read your responses? I feel absolutely defective with PMS. I was just telling my husband that everyone elicits emotional responses at this time! I tried to explain to my eight year old that I don't want to be touched right now. I'm sure she'll understand... eventually... poor thing! I think my PMS is worstening with age.

It's not weird that the responses are a comfort. It is the validation and understanding that gets us through a lot things in life. If you don't have these feelings as a woman, something has to be wrong. I can really tell here lately when I am getting there. Among other things, I am really irritable for about two days in a row and can't control it. It can be the littlest things. I try to take a deep breath, spend a few minutes by myself, and then try to go about my business with a clearer head. Hang in there!
