Default Why does it take so long to lose weight but you put it on so fast??..

I have been doing so good at losing weight. I made it to the 40 lb mark only to blow it. I had 3 days of not perfect eating but not all that bad either. I gained back 5 freaking pounds!!! IN 3 DAYS!!! That is crazy to me. I know I will lose it again, but why does it take so long to lose 5 lbs, and it comes right back so fast?? NOT FAIR!! I just had to vent about it...

Well, I dont know the scientific answer, but have you seen that documentary SUPER SIZE ME???
This man, I beleive, in a very short time, gained (I think) about 30 pounds...It took him over a year and a half to get BACK to his starting weight...
The whole movie was a huge eye opener, but that very last blurb is the one that stuck with me...We gain it much much quicker then we lose it...
Some ancient starvation mechinism within our bodies, I imagine...

The thing that pains me is that we have to be perfect and composed ALL THE TIME or else the weight comes right back. You know, no slip- ups allowed. On the other hand, I see people who have been thin all their life - they go overboard sometimes as well but they don\'t gain as much as I would...[

It is so frustrating. I used to just get angry about it, and that would cause me to eat. Because it\'s not fair!

But, now I choose to view it as my cross to bear and I know I\'ve got a problem. I view it sort of along the lines of alcoholism.

If I slip up, then I know I\'ve just got to work a bit harder then the average bear to get back on track. No, it\'s not fair, but it is my lot in life and I can deal with it by acknowleding that.

It\'s helped me tremendously to change my way of thinking in this way.

You guys are very right. I know this myself. I allow myself to eat whatver I want to on Sundays. I end up gaining a pound or so back after Sunday but it always come right back off and then normally an extra pound or 2 with it. I have experimented so many times to find what works for me. I think I finally have it down. I just wanted to vent about the way thinkgs work. Thanks for listening and your added info. All your words help!![I

Ok, so the 5 lbs I gained, well I have already lost 4! Yes, a \"re-loss\" but still a loss. So, I lose weight pretty fast on my plan. So, I am guessing because it comes off so fast, that is why it goes bak on so fast. Duh? right. I will just have to focus on the maintain mode really hard (wen I get there) cause I surely do not want to gain all of this back. I won\'t!!! NO way!![
