Default Showing weakness at work....

Pillow talk :-)
Had a strange day at work today. I had a meeting with my mentor at work. I was a bit stressed and overwhelmed by an assignment (a case that is ready for the courts) and I didn't feel that he had the time to really help me. (totally lost and new in the ligitation department of my law office)
Instead of just saying flat out, that I needed help I just say "fine" when I didn't quite feel he understod my dilemma, and asked no futher questions. I was upset about it, because I felt totally stupid and overwhelmed and felt that he kind of sort of brushing me off.
Fortunately (he is my new mentor of 1 months - we meet once a month and this is my 2. meeting) he noticed and came by my office before he left work.
It was such a relief. We had a proper talk about the situation and I truly feel better about going to him for advice in the futher. I thought it was pretty cool of him to adress the issue of my upset (sorry, don't know the right word!) straigt on, insted of just ignoring it.
Sorry for the long story, I posted it, because I feel that it is pretty important in my life. To be true to myself and talk straight instead of insisting to do everything myself and always say "fine" when asked how I am doing.
How do you guys handle conflicts at work?
Why is it so hard to admit that you can't do everything?
And why do so many people (unlike this mentor) chose to ignore when people at work - colleges or whaterver - are struggling?
..

I haven\'t worked in 5 years, but I do know when I was working, I kinda had the same problem. It\'s a matter of job security. We\'re afraid if we voice our true thoughts and feelings, we might lose the job or miss out on some promotion or advancement.
It\'s good that your mentor recognized the fact that you were holding things in, and it\'s good that you told him.
