Default Holiday gift ideas?

I saw this new forum area sitting here all lonely with no posts & decided that one thing that's probably on a lot of our minds is Holiday Shopping!
Does anyone have great gift ideas for the hard to buy for people on your list? Someone specific you're trying to buy for, and you need gift ideas? Ask & give advice here!
A neat gift idea I heard recently for the hard-to-buy-for man in your life: buy him a cheap new wallet, and fill it with gift cards to his favorite places, lottery tickets, cash, whatever!

Now that\'s an idea for a man\'s gift.
For my Dad every year, I buy a new wall calendar with large squares, then I go through it and write in everybody\'s birthdays and anniversaries. One year I didn\'t make one for him and he wanted to know where it was so I had to make him one after Christmas! He loves it, as he sometimes has trouble remembering everybody\'s birthdays.
I also fix Christmas ornaments for family members every year. If I have plenty of time, I get ornaments to paint. Then I add their name and the year. If time is short, or we\'re living in a hotel, I get the flat metal ornaments and engrave the names and dates on them or get ready made ornaments and use colored Sharpies to put the names and dates on them. Every year, everybody gets a new ornament. When the grandkids are grown and on their own, they\'ll have their own ornaments for their first Christmas tree.

Now thats some great guy gift ideas. My man wants more tools... hes gotten so many it\'s going to be hard to buy him something he don\'t already have. I know I\'m going to have to be on the lookout. He\'s the hardest one I know to buy for.

Well, I am kind of all about \"Theme\" gifts...So whatever your guy\'s interest is, start with that...
For instance, my husband loves beer...No, he is not an alcoholic, he just enjoys trying new brews...
So I go to a local store where you can buy individual bottles and I buy him 12-14 different kinds, styles, etc... Put it in a clever gift basket with some magazines, peanuts, snacks, etc...And he is happy.
I have done this with liquor as well, car supplies, and gift cards...
Once, I even bought him a star...NO LIE. He officially has a star named after him. Got him a certificate, and that year he got a telescope too...It was a star theme, you see! [IMG]

I\'m struggling with what to get Micheal. I got that carosel for him, but what else? If he wants something he just goes and gets it. He wants to get back into working on/restoring cars, but right now we don\'t have a place to do that. Same with woodworking. Nowhere to do it, so not really practical to buy the tools for that.
I was thinking about a gift card from Best Buy, but with the hype about the stolen numbers and the cards being used fraudulently, I\'m not sure I want to do that, either.
He has all the clothes he needs, golf clubs and bag caddy he never gets to use, computer working tools & equipment. He doesn\'t wear jewelry. I got him a new watch for Christmas twice in the past 5 years, so I don\'t want to stay in that rut.
I\'m at a loss. Any ideas anybody?

There are so many things I want to buy my guy. He needs so much! He has lived like a bachelor for too long.
But what Im going to get him is going to help both of us. Im going to sign him up at my gym (something he wants) and buy him some things to work out in. He doesnt have any sneakers, shorts, or plain t-shirts. So Im going to see what I can find (and afford) and get him ready for the gym! I cant wait to have a workout buddy.

I found a great gift that I\'m getting for my mom, and wanted to share it here!
I have wanted to get her a \"family\" necklace for a long time, with the birthstones for her, my dad, my brothers & I. I\'d seen them in some nice jewelry stores, but they were always so expensive that I couldn\'t come up with the money.
Then I found this one, that is available in sterling silver, and with \'faux\' birthstones - which is perfect - for only $35! I know she doesn\'t care if it\'s a real diamond, sapphire, etc - it\'s what it represents that matters.

It takes four weeks to get delivered so this won\'t be a good option for this Christmas, but I plan to order it anyway and give it to her on Mother\'s Day or another holiday this year. I can\'t wait to see how it turns out!
