Thanksgiving Countdown Challenge!
Did you know that Thanksgiving is only about 5 weeks away? We all know the holidays can be killer for those of us trying to get in shape and lose weight, so I am starting a challenge that will take us through Thanksgiving and help keep us focused on weight loss.
The Thanksgiving Countdown Challenge will begin Sunday, October 25, and will run 5 weeks, through Saturday, November 28.
During these 5 weeks, each day we will earn points in this way:
Exercise: 1 point for every 10 minutes of cardio or weight-training exercise. Please do not include start-and-stop or low-intensity activities like shopping, walking a dog who has to stop every few seconds, etc.
Eating Healthy: 5 points each day for overall healthy eating
Personal Challenge: You will determine this for yourself for each week! This can be anything from drinking a certain amount of water, to not eating after a certain time, or whatever else is your personal goal and struggle. Give yourself 5 points for each day you meet your personal challenge, but deduct 5 points for each day you do not!
These points will be added daily. Please track your own points each day for a weekly total. You can post your daily points as we go, which can be motivating for everyone else, but at the very least, post your weekly total at the end of the week (Saturday).
On the last day of each week (Saturday), add 10 points if you lost weight; add 5 points if you maintained; and deduct 10 points if you gained weight. Your daily totals, plus your add or minus for weight loss or gain, will give you your weekly total.
It’s really not as complicated as it sounds! I will use this template to track my points through the week:

Weigh-In: Saturday: (loss = +10, maintain = +5, gain = - 10):
