One of my big problems is i usually only eat onces a day which i know it bad on my system so i am going against my mindset and trying to eat mini meals and a snack.
Those are BIG changes to make, I know that was my biggest problem as well. I still fight it sometimes. Just changing your eating pattern will help you lose weight. We all have to make changes for LIFE.
You are doing great Milisa

My goal is to give up Dr. Pepper. I drink one a day, and I know I should give it up, but this will be JUST the push I need.
Additionally I need to drink more water. I usually drink maybe 44-66 oz a day, but I need to boost that up. So I'm going to drink at least 3 of my 22 oz glasses of water at work, 1 while working out in the morning, and 1 at night!

Last - I just started at the gym, so I need to develop the habit of always going. It's not a goal specifically to this challenge, but my goal was to go 5 times a week (week days) and then do something to move my body on the weekend - (this summer the pool is an easy one!)
WELCOME Susannah!!
Those are great goals!
I look forward to hearing about your progress at the gym. Have you ever gone to a gym before?

For exercise, I joined a gym. Today I swam laps for 25 minutes. Tomorrow I am attempting some cardio/strength training by way of the treadmill and the resistance machines. I'm a little nervous because it's been a long time since I've been on a treadmill and the people that are at the gym at my hour are SERIOUS about it. I know full-well that I will not last as long as I would like before getting worn out, but every little bit counts I realize. I am meeting a trainer on Friday to get a fitness evaluation (I've never been so excited to flunk something!) and then I'm planning on scheduling 2 additional trainer sessions on August 1 and September 1. I figure having those on the schedule will help to keep me motivated - and make sure that I'm making progress.

My plan is to go every week day - instead of saying 3 times a week. The second I let myself say "only 3 times", then you can bet I'll find excuses not to go. So - my plan is to swim 2x and to do the treadmill/strength 3x - and then - especially during the summer where it's easy to swim with the kids - make sure I do something active on weekends.

I had belonged to Curves once before - and I had good success with it for the few montsh I stuck to it. I got derailed and eventually quit going. What I lacked then, and have now is a support system to keep me going.

Susannah, You have a great plan. I know what you mean when you say only 3 times a week. I have to tell myself I HAVE TO DO something everyday or I get lazy. I am so afraid of falling back into my old habits.

Yup. That's why this is not a DIET, it's life. If I tell myself it's a diet, not only do I start feeling deprived, but then there's the idea that I can "cheat" or quit. It's not a diet. I can't quit.

It's gotten me to stay enthusiastic through one whole month, so I figure the food part I've gotten into habit mode. Now if I can get myself in habit mode for exercising....

OK Ladies,
Here is the first fitness challenge to you all.
I would like to see everyone pick an aerobic activity that they want to improve on through the nine weeks.

For instance I am going to pick walking. My goal is to reach 150 miles in these nine weeks BUT the true ultimate goal is to get myself to improve in the amount of miles and/or speed. I am a slow walker (by most standards) right now. I do about a 2.5 to 3 miles per hour. (Depending where I walk we have a lot of hills) I have been walking about 10 -12 miles a week. I would like to increase that to 15 - 18 miles a week and walk faster, like to 4 miles per hour. Will I be able to do both, I don't know? I guess we will see! The point is to improve. I am going to make a ticker from the ticker factory and place it on here July 4th the offical start date.

So give it some thought. SOME suggestions, Milisa you are counting blocks so you could do it that way. How many do you think you could do by the end of nine weeks in a day? Susannah, since you have the gym you could increase time, distance or intensity on the treadmil. One or all three. Tobey, you are awesome on your walking distance maybe you could shoot for faster time or add hand weights to get a more whole body work-out with your walk.

Give it some thought Gals and post it here July 4th (or the 5th), our offical start.
REMEMBER, THIS is NOT written in stone and you can change it as you see fit along the way. The point is to improve and give ourselves a bit of a push.
