Well, I caved. I had pizza Wednesday night, and ice cream...Then Thanksgiving was started with the traditional Thanksgiving brunch (had a big fruit salad....and sausage, and homemade waffles...) Then had turkey, 1/2 baked sweet potato, mashed potatoes and a slice of pumpkin pie...

And, this morning the scale shows it. I'm UP 4lbs! I am sorry team, I promise next week will be better. I AM going to the gym, and I'm going to get a personal trainer. I really don't want to repeat this again.

Aww, sweety the scale lied to you today! Seriously, that 4 pounds was not "fat" pounds. I doubt it was a real gain. I'd bet it is a mix of sodium and possibly due to if you have been eating more carbs now than before the holidays. I bet those 4 pounds will be gone by next week!
Honestly, last week (Tuesday morning) I was around 239 pounds. After eating at Applebees 2 times in a row, by Friday morning I was 245! That was mostly due to the large amounts of sodium in the food and yesterday morning, those pounds were gone and I was back down.
But great commitment going to the gym today! Just try not to beat yourself up about it!

So I just finished skimming through the American Heart Association Low-salt cookbook. I really don't think I found what I was looking for but I learned some stuff.
Apparently you are not born with the desire for salt, but you acquire it! After a month of not adding salt to your food during cooking, you will not crave it!
I guess the best way to reduce sodium is to eat whole foods, never processed foods. I don't know if that will work for me, but I know that I already cut out most of the things I don't need, like chips, chex mix (I really loved that stuff) and pickles and I don't really eat any bacon, ham, sausage, ect that the book said is high in sodium.
The book has lots of recipes, everything from meals to little things like salad dressing, ketchup and chili sauce. But I don't really cook, so I don't know if I would use that portion of the book
And it mentioned something I had not thought of. I drink from well water, and we have a water softener...I could be actually drinking salt! Yikes, but I don't know what to do about that...I really don't want to start buying bottled water knowing how much I drink a day!
So that is what I was reading in that book. If your interested in low sodium, and cook most of the time, it would be a good book for you! I got it from the library, so maybe you can check it out there first before you decide to buy it.

My computer is acting up. For some reason I can't quote.

Cheryl - girl it's ok. You'll lose the 4 lb -probably all water anyways.

Dagny water about buy that pitcher w/ the water purifer? Can't think of the brand - but it's cheaper then bottled water. We have a lot of water stores out here in CA, so we buy 5 gallon jugs for about 1.25. Then my boss installed a filter at work - that's where I get my water from at work and why it's easy for me to drink so much. Even though you ate quite a bit you stayed within range - and that's all that matters.

Angela, hey girl - great to see you here! Yikes, hope the indigestion issue cleared by now. Great job today though.

Hey Cats! Just checking in although I don't have alot of time to read and respond to posts. I'm still not sitting very well and the meds are kicking my butt, but I gotta say that I have stuck to 1200 calories a day and got my water in...even if I can't do much exercising. Hope everyone is doing well...miss you all!!!

Hello Buddies! Hope everyone is surviving the leftover turkey and such and staying on track. The only thing I brought home from dinner is the sweet potatoe cass-which is not calorie friendly! Strayed a little from my plan yesterday....did the black Friday shopping with my Mom and sister + some kids. Had a great time and it involved LOTS of walking, so that was good!

Friday account

B-special K bar, coffee
L-salad and 3 small pieces of pizza
D-4 slices deli chicken 35 calories each....just checked the sodium count 250 mg per slice, med serv of sweet potatoes, small cup mandarin oranges

Water-80 oz
Walk-off and on all day....up at 4 am-shopped from 6am till about 5 pm!
no multi vit..forgot, fell in the bed when I got home!

Back on track today....gonna up the water today, and get my exercise in. Hope everyone has a good day!!
