Joy~ I'm already seeing a difference with journaling. It's made me more motivated to work out too since I'm writing that down also. I did a 22 minute lower body video which I struggled through. Geez it's so frustrating to look down at my saggy knee fat and wonder if it will ever go away... Then, I took Gumbo on a bike ride and now I'm cooking my pre written lunch! Yeah me

Hi guys:

I am excited to join your group. I always thought I have to go thru this by myself until I found this website. It's nice to see that I am not alone and that there are more people out there who struggle just as much as I do. I need a challenge and a kick in the "you know where" in order to stay committed. I usually can not make it past 4 weeks (if I even make it that far). I don't know why, but I fall of the wagon and don't find my way back on until I gained everything I lost before. When I am back to where I started in the first place I kick myself and get back on track. But 2-4 weeks later......
I just want to be able to look in the mirror and like what I see.
The past week I did really good and lost 5 lbs. I promised myself (and my husband) to loose at least 2 lbs. this week. (Week 2 seems to be really hard for me to loose weight, so I thought 2 lbs. seems fair and reachable. If I set my goal to high and can't make it I get discouraged and give up.)

You guys are all doing to great and reading all your blogs inspires me to stay strong.

My goals for this week:

1. Stay committed
2. Loose 2 lbs.
3. Stay committed
4. Don't give up

Hi Sabrina, welcome to the team! You are so right, making #1 stay committed! Quitters NEVER lose. That's what always did me in ... I would give up, gain it all back, plus more. With the support I found here I may stumble, but I get back up. I have also learned to be patient. 2 lbs a month is my average. It took me 50 years of dieting to get where I am.... so 2 lbs a month is just fine with me. It's taken me about 2 years to lose 57 lbs, but I've learned a lot about myself along the way. Good luck to you, just keep it simple; eat healthier, eat less and be more active. You can do it! PS Joy is right, a big part of eating less is journaling your food. You can't imagine the difference it makes.

Hi Sandy:

Thanks! Wow...57 lbs....way to go!
To be patient isn't really my strength either. I want everything done right there and then. Even though I know that losing the weight will take time (took me years to put it on) I just can't wait. I guess that's while I get so frustrated when the scale doesn't move. I know I could be happy that I didn't gain anything that week, but when I don't even lose 1 lbs, my little voice tells me that all the work I've put in over the week wasn't worth anything and I might as well quit. I hope with the help of all you guys and can finally make it and lose 50+ just like you.

One thing I never did before is writing down everything I eat. I never thought it would really make a difference. But keeping a journal just over the last week opened my eyes. When I normally would've grabbed something to eat, I looked at my journal and thought....ney better not..... I always thought I don't eat a lot, but now I can see how it can add up during the day. A little bite here and there adds a lot of calories at the end of the day.

It's time that I take back control over my body and I am sure that with the help of all of you guys and can make it. I will need a kick here and there, but this time I am finally gonna make it - I won't disappoint you guys nor myself!

Welcome to the Heartbreakers Sabrina You sound like your mind is on track 100%! Way to go~ Now we just have to have our bodies follow along. I like what you said about it taking years to gain it so why should we expect to loose it in two weeks. For me it's not only loosing some weight but gaining back all the muscle I've been neglecting over the past ten years...

Cynthia, you are really on the ball. It is about gaining back muscle. Not only because we'll be stronger and look better, but because muscle burns more calories and makes it easier to maintain our goal weight. I went shopping this morning after water aerobics, and I filled my 5 gallon water bottle at one of those filtered water stations in the grocery store. It's easy to carry into Safeway, but a real bitch to get back out and into my car. The bag boy asked if I was sure I didn't want any help.... I told him 'no, I'm in training'. He laughed and thought it was a joke. It's no joke, I'm in training for the most important marathon of my life.... the rest of my life! I want to be strong and fit as long as I possibly can. I try to do as much 'hard work' as I can. Pulling weeds, carrying the laundry up and down the hill... carrying the groceries up the steps, even changing the bed. All things my husband offers to do.... I tell him the same thing. It's way to easy to get lazy as we age. People are always offering to help. Just say no! (politely, of course)
