Make Your Muscles Move
JORGE’S DAILY FIT TIP
By Jorge Cruise, Chief Diet and Fitness Expert
Friday, October 10, 2008

We all have flabby body parts we despise, but the excess fat on your body is not the source of your problem. It is only the symptom. The real culprit is a lack of lean muscle tissue, which burns calories 24 hours a day. Lean muscle is important because it controls your resting metabolism; the more lean muscle you have, the more fat you will burn throughout the day. Do 2-3 sets of a variety of strength-training exercises with each workout to help speed up your metabolism. If you plan on jumping on the treadmill or elliptical for some low-intensity cardio exercise, be sure to give your body time to rest in between workout sessions. Your body will be most responsive to muscle-building efforts when the muscles are relaxed. Remember: Brief, high-intensity strength training is the key to shaping your best body ever.

Turn Yourself into a Lean, Green Fat-Burning Machine FREE DAILY DIET TIP
By Jennifer Gruenemay, ACE-Certified, LifeScript Staff Writer
Thursday, October 9, 2008

Swapping your morning brew for a cup of green tea could be just the trick you need to lose that extra spare tire. Studies show drinking five cups of green tea a day can increase your metabolic rate and have you burning an average of an extra 80 calories a day. And guess what? We say it over and over again: The little stuff really adds up. But what makes green tea better than coffee for aiding in weight loss? Green tea beats coffee where it hurts – caffeine. The metabolism-boosting benefits in green tea don’t come from caffeine, which is a good thing because it doesn’t have much of the stuff. Instead, other compounds in green tea produce these benefits without the jittery side effects that a cup o’ joe can produce. One cup of green tea has between 5-15 milligrams of caffeine compared to about 90 milligrams in a cup of drip coffee. If you don’t think you can live without your daily coffee buzz, we dare you to switch to green tea for just one week. Go green, get lean and we promise we won’t say “told you so.”

Hey Cats, I did my second day of Curves Smart today! I was not as drained or burned out as I was when I did it for the first time on Wednesday. I don't know why though...perhaps because I was new to it, and it was a bit harder than I expected. Or because I had come from gym class and already had one workout so my body was more tired. I feel like that is an excuse, but it is possible. Nancy and everyone else who does multiple workouts in a day, how do you avoid getting drained?

My Weekly Goals:
*1500-1700 calories
*9-12 cups of water
*Less salt, more fruits and veggies
*Curves 3 times, 3 other workouts (probably 2 Biggest loser workouts and 1 WATP workout)

Today's Accountability:
B-Kashi and skim milk
L- turkey sandwich and crackers
S-cup of grapes, apple with peanut butter
D- Lean Cuisine lemon garlic fish with extra broccoli on the side
Total Calories: 1,420
I almost hit the range where they want you to be calcium wise! yay. And my salt was in the range too, so that is good. I also had lots of fruits and veggies today so I am happy with that too! I was going to have a granola bar for a snack but chose the apple because it is fresh fruit and I am trying to keep my snacky items for things I take to class.
Vitamin~check
Water~I only need 3 more cups/24 oz! So I will get my water in today! yay
Exercise: Curves

Thanks for commenting on my blog Nancy.
If I could, I'd do Curves first, and my gym class second...but that is impossible. I had joked before that she should let me have Curves as my gym class, and then I could share my results and improvements with her and that would be my grade! ha, but I don't think she would allow that...
I think maybe I am not eating enough before my workout...like you said, we need proper fuel to be that active. By the time I am at my workout I've had breakfast, lunch and sometimes a snack in...so I figured that would have been enough...but I will watch that!

I read a blog on sparkpeople.com that gives some good ideas for dieting. One idea was to put weights on your remote!
and eating with you opposite/non dominant hand to slow eating down. Or even use chopsticks! This helps slow you down and feel full before you finish the meal
I don't know if it will let me link, but here is the link to the blog.

Sup, my fellow felines!
Since I've started multiple workouts, I've found eating a small snack (50-100 cals) help me have the energy I need to make it through my second haul. Only makes since I guess since calories are the body's form of gasoline. Also, staying hydrated is big for me, I have to drink double the water I usually drink when I only work out once/day. In any case I am finding that the 2/day thing is mighty rewarding, I lost 5lbs just this week Anyways, I love you guys and want to say Congrats on the new addition Nicole!
Accountabilty
Breakfast Bran Muffin w/ apple butter 2 hardboiled eggs and fiber one yogurt
Lunch lean cuisine tomato salad and yogurt
Snack 100 cal bar
Dinner lemon chicken w/brown rice and green pepper salad
Water 96 oz
Vitamin check
Exercise 45 weightloss intervals on elliptical and 32 min trailblazer on treadmill
