Is it too late to join this challenge. I am looking for a forum that will help me stay motivated in walking/jogging, or to just exercise more. I think I do better with my weight loss when I focus more on the exercise. Let me know if you are taking new members on this forum.

Sorry for your sadness but its great that you have such a close family to help in times like those.
Sorry also about your back.
Take it easy and yoga sounds like a good place to start just don't push it.

Take care of you
Big hugs again
Lori
Thanks for the hugs Lori. I'm taking it easy. I haven't started any exercises yet. I walked around the grocery store today and that was enough.

you know, backs have a way of going out right in the middle of stress like that. when i was working in the high school my back went out shortly after 9/11. i had just started that job and actually had to leave it due to the back. schools are amazingly supportive places, though, too, so do take advantage of that. i wouldn't go into yoga until you talk to a PT and really come out of the inflammation stage. i am a HUGE fan of ice, but i know for some alternating ice and heat work best. Walking is the best exercise for me for my back. It keeps me really stable. That plus core-strengthening exercises. There are some really great simple ones to do that any PT should be able to tell you - your yoga DVD may have that, too. Just do go slow and easy cuz as you know from your hubby backs can be tricky beasts! Stretching will be good too after the inflammation is gone. I feel for you - i couldn't walk for a few weeks without severe pain, i was crawling into chiropracters and doctors offices. it really can suck but i am proof that it can be okay, too! swimmingof course is THE BEST. again, let yourself heal a bit - then do things like walk and go on all fours doing opposite arm/leg lifts; you can do an abbreviated cobra by laying on your stomach and gently lifting your chest up with your arms - not too much bending; another tummy down and just reach your arms and feet long and away from each other; stretch your hamstrings, quads, and sides - they really place pressure on a back.

oh my, i got carried away - sorry - just love ya and feel for the pain!
the most imp't thing i learned is that everyone seems to have an opinion about backs (see my long-winded reply above), but YOU will know your body best. Listen to it
hugs,
deb
Thanks for the kind words and advice on the back. I am taking it very slow. Today the only exercise I got was walking the aisles of the grocery store. I also slept a lot today. I think it was my body's way of winding down from everything that has gone on. You take care of yourself too. I can't wait till the new baby comes

Hi guys!

I hope everyone had a good weekend! I did. Yesterday I went to my kickboxing class. At the end of class we did some ab workouts that I'm oh sooo feeling right now.

1. Swam all day with the family but no real exercise
2. Off
3. 1 hr kickboxing and 1 hr Pilates Fusion
4. 1 hr 20 min strength training, 1 hr Pilates, 40 min. elliptical & stairmaster
5. 1 hr kickboxing, 15 min. treadmill
6. Off
7. 1 hr Kickboxing
8. 1 hr strength interval/circuit training - I'm my own trainer, 1 hr core class, 1 hr cardio/maybe I'll do the hip hop class but might flake out. We shall see.
