THIS WEEK'S RECIPE


High Fiber Energy Muffins

These healthy muffins combine whole wheat flour, wheat germ, raisin bran, applesauce, brown sugar & a little butter, flavored with cinnamon.



Ingredients:

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup wheat germ
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups Raisin Bran cereal
1/3 cup chopped dates or raisins
1 cup + 2 Tbsp of low-fat milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
2/3 cup applesauce
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp butter, melted
Method
Prepare muffin tin with paper liners, or smear with shortening. Mix flours, wheat germ, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, cereal, dates or raisins, and milk in large bowl; let it stand for 5 minutes. Then combine and stir in egg, applesauce, brown sugar, and butter. Stir just until moistened. Divide batter into 12 muffin cups and bake at 400 degrees for 15-18 minutes, or until golden. Optional: sprinkle a little cinnamon-sugar on the tops before they go in the oven.

Notes: I creating this recipe for my husband so he could have something healthy and easy to eat in the car on his way to work in the mornings. My 1 year old daughter also eats them and, boy, can she inhale them! I keep my freezer stocked with these tasty low-fat muffins.

AND YES I KNOW THIS ISNT THE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE FORUM BUT I JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE HERE KNOW THAT IF YOU ARE IN THE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE I WILL BE THE CAPTAIN OF IT STARTING IN JANUARY. IT WILL BE FOR ALL THOSE WHO STILL HAS SOME MORE WEIGHT TO LOSE FOR THE NEXT NEW YEAR IN 2010. CHRISIE IS STILL CAPTAIN THIS YEAR AND I AM UNDER HER WING LETTING HER SHOW ME THE ROPES. SO I JUST WANTED TO PUT A BUG IN YOUR EAR SO YOU CAN THINK ABOUT IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN THE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE FOR NEXT YEAR. BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I WILL HAVE SOME MORE WEIGHT TO LOSE BEFORE I GET TO MY GOAL.

Welcome to all the new Heart Breakers! I am happy to see you all here! I am sure that you will enjoy this group of wonderful people!

My goals for the week:

water- I really need to work on this one!
walk 1 hour every day M-F
no eating after 7pm
Watch my sodium intake
try to work out on my exercise ball 3x's this week



I am excited, I just ordered a new MP3 player because the one I have been using is on its last leg. It was my hubby's and I think I have run it into the ground! The one I am getting is like an IPod, but it is the generic one! It is blue and I can't wait for it to arrive in the mail!

Okay I am off for now I am going to get ready, my hubby is taking me out to dinner at Subway! my favorite place to eat out!


I am still working on gettiing my pictures of my yard to share with you all... I want you to see all the hard work we put into the garden and yard itself!-Hours and hours of exercise

Hello, I'm new to this group and I'm very excited! So, my starting weight is 168...which is weird cause I think I should be less but I'm not gonna let it get me down.

Starting weight: 168 lbs
Goals:

1. Drink a gallon of water a day
2. Continue to workout
3. Don't fall into bad habits/ or get tempted
4. Make this group proud ^_^

Welcome Concha! Make us proud girl!

Well, my MIL came to visit out of nowhere. Luckily she ended up staying with hubbies brother and his wife. I don't think I could handle her here. When I turned down the fried rice at dinner and opted for steamed veggies instead she actually rolled her eyes at me. What? Like it's so bad to eat something a little healthier. And that's not even the worst of it....I just don't think I should get into it all with you sweet ladies. But it's bad. Regular stereotypical "you stole my son", "she's not jewish" kind of stuff. UGH! Why couldn't she just wait till fall when we go to visit her? I just wasn't ready for this right now.

Sorry, just a little off-topic vent. I'll be OK. It's a new week and I have to keep my eye on the ball. I love you all, now let's kick some butt!

Sandy it is so true about the best way to get motivated is to motivate someone else! I love getting messages and boosters from my buddies telling me how much I motivate and inspire them. It has also been a great motivation for me with the co-workers I am working with this summer. They have gone from eating junk food for lunch the first day to bringing a healthy lunch or getting subway! I usually walk around the park after lunch and when I started doing it one of my co-workers has usually done it too! She has been asking me a lot of questions and I have answered her the best I can by what I am doing. I have a lot of info saved on my computer and I am going to print some off today to give her tomorrow.

My Goals for the week!
1. Water, water, water
2. take my vitamins and supplements
3. come on here as much as possible and give my buddies support
4. stick to my eating plan
5. Journal my food every day!
6. do some form of excercise every single day!
7. ME time!

Hi Everyone
my goals for this week
1) track what I eat (as planned or as I eat it, not after the fact) and stick to my daily calorie goals
2) eat a healthy breakfast
3) exercise at least 30 min, 3 x per week
4) eat 5 servings of fruits/veggies
5) support my buddies

Have a healthy and fit week everyone!!!

My goals for week:

Get back to my healthy eating plan (cutting out the treats, junk & sugar)
Drink only water
Exercise at least 5 times during the week
Support my buddies

Ive got reviews with two of my consultants this week, so lets hope that one of them (the one who's dealing with the bleeding in my stomach) accepts there is a problem and finds a way to solve it! I'm so tired of not having my independent life. So fingers crossed. Unfortunately that appointment falls on the same day that my course graduates, so I won't get to see all my friends qualify, i'll have to make do with the pics of them collecting their degrees from our chancellor (who leaves this year) is Richard Attenborough of Jurrasic Park fame.

Have a healthy, active & positive week everyone. (((HUGS)))

just a quick CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!! AND ITS NICE TO SEE ALL OF THE NEWBIES...WE HAVE REALLY BEEN RECRUITING...LETS KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK...AND EVERYONE...KEEP INVITING PEOPLE...WE SHOULD HAVE ABOUT 30 PEOPLE...AND WE WILL SOON BE BACK UP TO THAT NUMBER!!
