Meet Rockstar Josh

Born on October 24, 1977 Josh was the first of 3 more childeren to enter into his family over the next 8 years. Josh was a little bit of a pain upon first entering the world though. He put his mother Betty through 38 HOURS of labor before the doctor had decided a C-Section was the way to go. In other words, Josh should've been a Libra instead of a Scorpio.

Over the first few months it was a pretty interesting lifestyle for Josh, he ate, slept, pooped, and took baths. Basically he was a typical baby, doing what most typical babies do.

By the Age of 1 Josh talked and has never shut his mouth since! There were home movies and cassett tapes with baby Josh talking at an early age. His Parents Betty & Jay knew they had their hands full.

Eventually, Josh had a younger brother named Steven, follwed by a sister named Cara and finally another sister named Danielle. Now that the family had been fully put together it was time for some fun family vactions to places like Niagra Falls, Virginia Beach, and North Conway NH to name a few.

When they were young, if Josh & Steven were being quite it only meant one thing, they were working together to harrass their sisters...Needless to say, they got themselves into trouble quite often.

As Josh grew older in school he was interested in only one thing....television, and radio. Not just watching it, but making it happen, putting broadcasts together and puting videos together. For as long as Josh could remember he wanted to have a job related to the production field somehow. Except for a brief time when he was 8 and told his Aunt that he wanted to be a Doctor so he could look at naked ladies all day!!! (haha, TRUE STORY...what a little perv)!

Throughout high school, Josh's determination of "making it big" slowly became a reality. He had some great opportunities in high school to work with 2 television stations at the local access level, where the education he got still carries with him to this day. It was in High School that Josh landed his first paying TV Job for a Boxing Match where he was a camera operator. This just hooked him in that much further.

Eventually Josh made it into College (much to the dismay of a few teachers and guidance councelors) and in college, of course he was a Communications Major with a concentration in TV & Radio Broadcasting. While in College, Josh continued to work hard at his goals of "Making it Big" by being an intern for over 5 radio stations in Boston, and working on a variety of professional televison shoots doing whatever he could to be noticed. (Except maybe streaking...he only wanted to be noticed for good things...lol).

In the midst of the concentration of the workforce, Josh had time while in college to become the President of the Activities Board, a Resident Assistant, the General Manager of the College Radio station, a Student Government Senator and hold a variety of on-campus jobs.

Also during that time, Josh had a few different girlfriends come and go through his life. All leading him up to some great experience and knowledge about the type of person he would like to one day spend the rest of his life with. It wasn't until after school had ended that he met a girl through some mutual friends named Renee'....Josh knew there was something special about her right away, and although she had a boyfriend, she knew there was something she found interesting about Josh. For almost the first two years of Josh & Renee' knowing eachother, they were only friends. Their friendship grew over time, and Josh was beginning to wonder how long he could go with out telling his now best friend Renee' what his true feelings were. Well, much to his pleasant surprise, Renee' was feeling the same way. Once they told eachother of their feelings it was as friends reported "ABOUT TIME!" While they did have a brief snag in their dating relationship, once they got engaged they have been happy ever since. Now approaching 2 years of marriage they are trying to start a family and would love to one day have at least 2 children.

In the midst of the dating and being engaged and getting married, Josh's job really took off. He got offered a position with NASCAR that took him all over the United States working on the television broadcasts for the various races. Also in that time, Josh has been fortunate enough to be traveled to places like Europe, Mexico, and China all for work. Also, he has had a variety of opportunities working in TV with Presidential Candidates, Major Recording Artists, and being part of a multitude of Major Sports History both in Boston, MA and around the United States. He truly feels due to these various honors he has "made it big" in television.

In his radio career, Josh hit it pretty big as well when he was offered a position with the New England Patriots Radio Broadcast for all of their home and away games. This was a most interesting job to a life-long Patriots fan as he got to go on the team plane and team buses for away trips. An experience, he will never forget. Although, the Pats didn't make it to the SuperBowl during Josh's full-time tenure with the broadcast, he still loves every minute of what he did with the team.

A little more than 2 years ago, Josh became an uncle to a little guy named Jayden Anthony. He was born 2 months early and weighed only 3 pounds 2 ounces. Josh can still remember the first time he met the little guy sitting in the little plastic box with all sorts of tubes attached, helping him eat, breathe and basically stay alive. It was a very scary time for the entire family. Through the literal miracles of modern medicine and some of the best medical care in the world, Jayden A made it home 30 days after he was born and weighed 4 pounds at the time! Now he is upwards of 35+ pounds, walking, talking, running, and playing like any other normal boy and is one of the highlights of Josh's life.

Finally, and most recently Josh became a daddy of sorts himself just 2 weeks ago when he and his wife Renee' adopted a little kitten who they named Salem. Salem got his name for the city he was adopted in and the city in which Josh and Renee' met for the first time. Though it's been 2 fairly drama filled weeks, it looks as if little Salem is almost out of the woods and on his way to a life of a normal happy kittie!

Josh hopes to continue his Rockstar Lifestyle and is thrilled to be a part of the BuddySlim Community. Since joining the team of Rockstars, Josh has lost an incridible 20 pounds and is well on his way to more pounds dissapearing!!! Eating right, exercising, and having all the support of friends going through the same daily trials and tribulations has made it a very wonderfull process.

Wow! This is going to involve a LOT of reading....which reminds me I need to post the Trivia answers

Lara's Bio

I am a 34 year old twin in Austin, Texas. My sister and I were always the twins. Usually if someone recognizes us it is because they know us as the twins (except for our BFF's). The nice thing about a twin is that you have someone who loves you no matter what. The down side is that you have someone who loves you no matter what....lol

Lys and I went to a small high school in the Austin area, and we have been big since about 5th grade (okay, that is the first time I remember). We were put in a school counseling group for larger kids. I remember that being the first time I thought of myself as overweight. My mom was always dieting (Scarsdale, which is very regimented) and soon at the age of 16ish joined WW. I remember the failures assoicated with that the most. Skipping meetings only to eventually ahve to fess up. My weight has always hovered around 200....sometimes 220 at the worst and 180 at the least. In high school, I got down to 155, but it was by starving myself and exercising insane hours. (We had a treadmill and I would be on it for hours). Ask Lyssa about the time we passed out at IHOP....we used to go to WW on Saturday morning and since we had starved all week, we would binge on Saturday am IHOP breakfast. Mom hurt herself on the door and we both passed out. One after the other - damn empathy....but that has been a pattern all of our lives.

College was frought with bad decisions. We did well enough in school, but then there was the between class soap operas and ice cream. I think alone we kept Blue Bell in business. Many an aggie0busk was used to purchase a cheeseburger, buffet breakfast, or pint of ice cream. I remember seeing Christmas pictures and being horrified of the roundness of my face....my highest weight was then.....

Began teaching, and bad habits.....I eat breakfast like a good girl, but always skip lunch. Too sleepy in the morning to fix a lunch, it is just easier. That has been a habit that has followed me for 10 years....still trying to break it.

This is kinda a diet bio, but it is who I am....I have defined my life too much in the past as how big I am (starting my life after I get skinny - as I sit here at 34!) and my career. That has started to change. The funny thing is, my scrapbook keeps me sane. When I get to it and realize that I don't have any pics, it reminds me that means I probably need to get out more. It's why we decided to have the Sex and the City party and venture out to see George Michael next month (200 here I come). My life right now is what I would term "the calm before the storm"....I am trying to get in the best shape of my life before school starts. I have approximately 50 days to build endirung habits. We are starting a new school, where I am teaching, but have a lot of leadership roles, so I am excited, but know that when school starts, I better have some solid GOOD habits in place.

I started Buddyslim last fall and instantly liked the competition of the challenge teams. I was a WILDCAT and loved it. Our leader at the time, Cindy, was a good friend and inspiration and had to leave for maternity reasons. I tooks ome time off at Christmas, and by the time I cam back it was March. I started on the Hot Rods, and I loved the team and the friendships so well established. But my sis runs that team....she was having so much fun, that I decided to try to start a new team. I remember the first members, Melissa, Christina, Holly (I don't know if I am up for it -HAHAHA), Angie, and Debbie.....soon followed by Josh (how would we do it without him), Katie, and all the rest of the crew.

I love our team. I remember looking at the roster this weekend and thinking, we really are a solid team now. We have 20+ members that I can;t see leaving us for anything. ROCK ON ROCKSTARS!

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo bring on more bios! I love that Josh bio, it was so cool. You always know how to make me laugh!

Oh Lara, ain't it so! We really are a solid team now! Thanks to you starting it! I know without a doubt that had you not asked me to be on the team, I would have probably just lurked in the background and never have made the progress I have! How can I ever thank you enough? I'm so glad I did find the time! Just goes to show that if you really want to do something you will find a way! Love you so much, you one and only original Rockstar!

Born in Uvalde TX in 1972. Moved around a lot because my parents were trying to follow the American Dream and make a better life. Graduated from High School at 17 in Mississippi and when to college. When my Grandfather passed away in 1990, my folks moved to New Mexico to be with Grandma and asked me to come with them. Dropped out of college and bummed around (well, worked 3 jobs) until I joined the Air Force Christmas 1991. A year later I had a daughter and a divorce. Two years later I had another daughter and another divorce. :-) In 1996 I married my current hubbie. Funny story...he introduced me to my first hubby. He was the godfather to my children and my very closest fried. We said if we were ever single again, we'd get married...and here we are almost 12 years later...and we had our two sons (the human looking one and the one with the defomity that makes him look like a dog).

Ok...left the Air Force and joined the National Guard in 2000, only to come back on Active Duty after 911. Guess I figured I just belong here. Finished my degree in 2003 and recieved my commission in 2004. I've been stationed at Shepard AFB in Wichita Falls TX, Laughlin AFB in Del Rio TX, FE Warren in Cheyenne WY, Langley AFB in Hampton VA, Vandenberg AFB in CA, MacDill AFB in Tampa FL, and now Lajes ABW in the Azores (or rock in the middle of the Atlantic as we affectionately call it). We're headed to Huntington WV for the next two years and are really looking forward to it.

I've battled with my weight for quite some time. Of course there are weight standards in the military, so I have the added preasure of "if you don't lose the weight, you will lose your job". So I get on these roller coasters. Only this time I went way up on the high side. I'm not sure what happened, but I put on 50lbs in the past 2 years. Ugh! So, I'm working hard to bring it down again, and I'm committed to monitoring the scale...well...at least until I retire. Six more years baby!

Wow...I got winded there! Hobbies are reading fiction, walks, watching movies, and playing with the kids. I direct a Catholic youth group and raise money to buy stuff for the local orphanage. I love my husband and my friends, and I adore BBQ and Portuguese wine. And, I admit, FOOD! :-) I hate running, but will do it as soon as I lose some wieght and get the pressure off my heels.

Thanks for having this team, and thanks to Buddyslim for existing! :-)

Tobie We have some things in common! Two former husbands (just not the same ones!), four kids (3+1), graduated in MS (you HS [where?] and me 6th grade [Meridian]) and we both like to read, but I like to read a lot of genres, we both lead church groups, and we are both Rockstars! Great Bio!

PS and there is that military connection too. My dad was career Army, first husband Army then Air Force, second husband Air Force and I met him at Shepard AFB. I lived in Wichita Falls for about three years.
