It all started one winter night on Catalina Island, CA, where two young lovers did the dirty!! 6 weeks later they were married, and 7 more months after that, their daughter (ME!!) was born.
A sister joined me about 2 ½ years later, which I always resented and never fully got over until sometime as a teenager

I was raised in So Cal (Southern California) until I was 7, when my dad’s job moved us to Portland, OR, the hometown of my heart

I was a bookworm and a smarty pants my whole life. For high school I attended the local “alternative” school which was named that before “alternative” meant troubled kids. It was a K-12 started and run by hippies. A great great place for a kid like me, where I learned to embrace, nay CELEBRATE my dorkitude and come out of my shell. I spent a lot of time there doing community service type work, volunteering in the younger classes and being a camp counselor. (OH AND I was a foster mom for the local Humane Society, which I had been a part of since I was 12. ) While at my fabulous hippie high school, you may be interested to learn I died my blonde hair various shades of green and purple. I graduated at 17, my mom and little sister moved to Florida, and I pierced my navel before college.
The piercing didn’t last, much to my dismay and even a second attempt. I joke that it means I NEED a tattoo

. At college I went back into my shell some. I also made a handful of friends that were nerdy hippies like myself, and met the man I would eventually marry. My friend warned me to be careful “you’re a freshman and he’s a senior. He’ll probably want to ‘settle down’ well before you” !! HA as if! This man was the biggest intimacy-phobe EVER!! That’s okay though. We overcame that, and just before we were together three years, he proposed. Then we decided, we are graduating in three weeks (he with his Master’s) and everyone will already be here, LETS HAVE THE WEDDING IN 23 DAYS!! So we did and it was awesome and perfect and wonderful. We moved to Las Vegas, which was mostly a dumb idea (don’t do it!!) although I did work as a Youth Minister at our church, which I loved!
Then Hubby was transferred to the Bay Area, and I was once again within driving distance of the ocean!!! I lost 20 ‘depression’ pounds right after the move and it wasn’t long until we were pregnant. My son, Tiernan turned one this past March. A few months ago we moved to the middle-of-nowhere CA in a small town which I am super excited to raise my son in, and the next baby whenever s/he happens to grace us We have two dogs, a garden, a soon-to-be pond, car projects and my scrap-booking to stay busy so we are slowly but surely settling into our more healthy lifestyle (with the added help of my BUDDIES!!).
