I very much agree with that saying!!! Hi!!! My name is Kari and I am new to all of this. I have had problems with my weight since my second child was born and I packed on 126 extra pounds!! I have lost some of it over the years but not much. I would like to shoot for the most probable goal I can think of... to lose enough weight that I can go out on my 30th birthday and party like a rock star!! (Just kidding!) I have five children that I need to keep up with and have been having difficulties doing so with the excess weight. I truly look forward to meeting all of you and hope to be the best I can be in this group!! Thanks for letting me join!! I love a good challenge!!

okay i have a question....do you all agree that we are putting way to much emphasis on what the scale says? i have been feeling this way for awhile...and i know some of you like the weigh in aspect of the weightloss challenge....i was thinking we need to put more emphasis on replacing our old fatty habits with new slimmer healthier habits....and focusing on inches and the long term as well as some short time goals such as Annies 4th of July challenge...but, maybe each week is just too much emotionally on some of us....and i believe we lose more people because they are afraid to weigh in because they feel they "are letting the team down" when actually they are probably more disappointed for "letting themselves down" so they fall off the face of our weightloss challenge and off of buddy slim altogether ? i have been reading a few books today....You on a diet and Weigh down and it talks about how all of the fad diets dont work and are only short term diets...that are impossible to follow for very long. such as the atkins, the zone, i could go on....i think that we have to be healthy emotionally(mentally), physically, and spiritually to reach our ideal weight...if we focus just on physical then it could cause alot of problems emotionally...like we saw in Julie today...and think about the others who may not see the scale move for weeks...they will only give up...and is our goal here really just to win the weigh ins each week? whats more important? i would say that each and everyone of us reach our healthy balance in all those areas...but this is not only my team...i am asking everyones opinion on this.....and there wont be any big changes like this made until i have heard everyones opinions and suggestions. we will never be able to make everyone happy but....i believe this is just one more way to bring our team closer together.....what do you think?

THIS IS NEED TO KNOW INFO!

dont eat foods that have any of the following listed as one of the first five ingredients ! (the order they are listed is by quantity!)

simple sugars
enriched, bleached, or refined flour (this means its stripped of its nutrients)
HFCS (High fructose corn syrup- a four letter word!)

choose unsaturated fats over saturated fats

make sure most of your carbs are complex, such as whole grains and vegetables

i found this in the YOU on a diet book

I agree with the focus on making a healthier lifestyle for everyone a priority. I like the weighins, but whatever is fine for me. I try to balance health and vanity.

I also agree with the healthier lifestyle. A healthier lifestyle is what I am aiming for. I also like the weigh in. I want to see those scales move. I was one of those people who disapeared when my scale didn't move.(which was my own fault for reverting back to my old ways of dealing with stress). I felt like I wasn't helping myself how in the world could I help anyone else. Now I know better, it helps knowing someone else is having the same problems dealing with things as you are and we can help each other on our journies. I like having accountability buddies, who can give me ideas and kick my butt when I feel like throwing in the towel. I think we should aim for the healthier lifestyle first and worry about the scales after.
