Gotta post these quick:

Shape and Tone Your Legs With Jump Training
Posted: 12 May 2008 02:59 PM CDT
Are you looking for ways to shape your lower body because your program isn't quite working?! After all, summer is just around the corner! I have a solution for you! Add some excitement and intensity to your leg workouts!

If you have been doing your squats, lunges and step-ups that's great. Keep doing them. But, you need to mix it up a little with some jump training. Jump training has many benefits which include: burning body fat, strengthening bones and increasing power.

Jump training is high intensity training, placing great stress on the bones, joints, and connective tissue. Jump training places you at greater risk of injury than less intense training exercises. It is important to perform the exercises correctly before implementation of full-speed exercises. Jumping and landing techniques should be mastered. Exercises should be performed on safe surfaces such as rubber mats, sprung floors, grass or sand. Concrete or other similar hard surfaces expose you to injury. And, you should have good core and lower body strength to reduce chances of injury.

So you ask, where do I start? A good place to start is with an exercise you learned in kindergarden: jumping rope! There are many variations of jumping rope: two legs, one leg, alternating legs, shuffles, slalom, etc. You can progress to eventually jumping rope at full speed. Jumping rope is one of the best exercises for burning calories, burning fat, increasing bone density and improving coordination/balance.

Another good jump exercise is jump squats. Learn proper jumping and landing techniques before progressing to full speed execution of this exercise.

Jump your way to the body you want!

Exorcise Those Demons
What kind of emotional demons are lurking in your closet (or refrigerator)? Not sure? Well, it's time to find out and exorcise them once and for all. To succeed where you have failed, sometimes you have to take three steps back to take that first step forward. In terms of reaching your goal weight, "stepping back" means reviewing past and current self-defeating behaviors to identify where you got stuck, discouraged, or overwhelmed.
Here are several of the most common causes of overeating. I want you to write down in your diary or journal all the excuses that are familiar to you.

1. EMOTION
Do you overeat as a coping mechanism, to numb suffering, allay fears, combat loneliness, and so on?

2. REWARD
Do you eat to reward yourself whenever you've done a good job on something?

3. SEEKING ACCEPTANCE
Do you overeat because you're seeking social acceptance? Do you eat fattening foods at parties in order not to offend the host? If you're out with friends, do you feel the need to have a drink just to fit in?

Those are just a few of the common causes of emotional overeating. What other situations have derailed your success?

DAY
What's the Point?
Well, by doing this exercise, you can isolate your specific problems and work on finding solutions for all of them. Find out (and conquer) what has locked you into self-defeating habits and substitute healthy, affirming behaviors instead. Whatever your downfalls might have been in the past, there is a way to deal with them in the present. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but if you hang in there with me, you will succeed!

Good! Well I don't really think of this year as my first mothers day, it'll seem more real next year when I actually have the baby to cuddle with! And to share with Grandma!
