" High Triglycerides May Cause Weight Gain

Researchers from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Missouri have found that high triglycerides block leptin - a hormone secreted by our fat cells - from getting into the brain by impairing its transportation system (Diabetes, 2004: May).

As a result, leptin cannot do its work in turning off feeding and burning calories.

In other words, high triglycerides make the brain "think" the body is starving so we keep eating and... gaining weight. This is probably one of the reasons why so many people are becoming obese.

By lowering triglycerides then, we could help the body's own leptin to work better so we could get skinnier avoiding heart problems, cancer and diabetes - common chronic diseases linked to obesity. "
Found on this site . Hope it helps!!

Tonya, looks like Linsey gave you the article on the triglycerides. The good news is that they have found the problem. Is this something that can be fixed?

Linsey, love the cake!!! Also, reading your accountability reminded me of me over the weekend, word for word! Stress, TOM, all of it. I am right there with you...ready to get back on track!

Great plans everyone and congrats on getting the trophy home!!!!!

Ok guys, camping was not successful! It was absolutely freezing! I mean literally.. we dumped some ice out on the ground before going to bed, the next morning it was still there... not even slightly melted. We packed it in and came home Saturday. Mom called Saturday night asking if I would take her out on Sunday, so Chris and I picked her up and we went shopping. Of course, mom has a 1 track mind... baby! She bought me a diaper bag, a couple of blankets and a car seat.. she'll give them to me for shower presents.

This week my main goal is to make sure I'm drinking my water! I don't know why, water has always been my drink, but lately I have been struggling so much to get it in. So that is my priority! Drink lots of water. Apparently those same good anti-oxidents in green tea that are good for losing weight, are not good at all for baby... so no green tea for me! Other than that, I am still just trying to get food in me, so no specific goals for food intake. I'm back down to 193 as of this morning...

I have now forgotten the rest of what I was going to say, so if/when I remember I will post again!

Have a great week everyone of my fabulous teammates!

Oh! Kama, how'd it go with your mom Saturday?... I forgot to ask you last night...

Hey Anj and Linsey!! Totally with you both. TOM, surprise family, major busy at work, couldn't even check in with my Buddies!! So, no loss, out of control snacking.... but like you Linsey, I feel so horrible I'm ready to feel good again. And yup Anj, ready to get back on track!!

So this week I'm trying something a little different. My cravings are so strong, I think my carbs are way too high. I've let them sneak in, and my protein is way too low. So for this week I'm not going to focus on calories, but on keeping my carbs under 60g's per day. Energy is what I'm looking for here!

Goals:
Stay accountable to my teamates
Stay under 60grams of carbohydrates per day
72 ounces of water/green tea per day
Work out with Jillian 3 times this week
Cardio workout 2 times this week
Stay focused and positive, keep in mind this is a learning journey, not an overnight success!

Do you bring your vitamins to work with you? Can you keep them in your purse? That may help you.... that way when you log on to BS you'll see your goals, or others accountability, and it will remind you to take them... just an Idea! Hope you had a great weekend! ((((luvs))))
