[t]Ok, my husband has been walking at the gym and riding the bike there too and not seeing a whole lot of results. Hes almost been weight training. He saw a trainer and she gave him a good plan so he is going to start that. His problem too is his hip bothers him sometimes when he walks because of an accident he had years ago. So, last night at the gym, he went on the stair stepper and he said it made him sweat big time! He also did the Elliptical machine and he said that kicked his butt too. Now I red somewhere that that machine doesnt do much for a person but he said he felt a hard work out. Any one have any thoughts on the elliptical machine? Any success?
[/t]I was walking around the track at the beginning of the week and still having my shin problem so I went to the treadmill Thursday. No shin problem AND I sweated like crazy! I said the same thing to a couple of people at the gym, that I always thought using a machine was sort of cheating BUT she said that because when you walk natural, you slow down when you\'re tired and on the treadmill, it\'s a constant speed unless you physically slow it down. SO I guess that\'s where your workout is more consistent. I just feel so much better after the treadmill vs. the track. I feel like I\'ve really gave it my all! .

I like the treadmill too Cindy. I like it because it\'s a visual thing for me. You see the numbers and I think \"I can go one more mile or just another half mile\". But, it is also great to go outside once in awhile and get fresh air. And I agree with the outside thing where you can slow down if your not careful. Especially if you walk with someone.
But, try the stair stepper if you get a chance. I tried the one that looks like real stairs and that thing made me sweat within the first minute. it was brutal. It didn\'t \"hurt\" but it does make you tired.
