I just joined. I am from San Antonio and am in desperate need for some motivation. I was working out about 3 times a week for about two months and then I went on vacation and well I havent been able to get back into it, and now I have gotten a new job so I have to start working out in the morning which is even harder for me since I suck at getting up in the morning, so I am coming here for help with motivation. Please help me if you can!

Thanks

Well, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you so I don't know if I qualify for giving good motivational advice but here goes.* Have you ever noticed how the question, "Have you been losing weight?" makes you feel?* Even if I haven't been losing weight (maybe I'm just wearing a flattering outfit) it makes me feel phenomenal and it makes me want to go out and jog 5 miles...and I hate jogging!* I don't know if you react similarly, but if you do, take advantage of those rare times when you feel the slightest inkling of motivation.* When you feel that way, clear your schedule and just go with it.* Also, set boundaries with the people you're closest to and clue them into your goals so they are not inadvertantly sabotaging you by asking you out to dinner or offering you a cookie or whatever your food vice is.* Schedule your exercise time like you would any other important appointment and always keep running/walking shoes and workout clothes with you so you don't have any excuses.* If you can't do morning workouts, try to schedule exercise in BEFORE you go home.* I know that when I've had a long work day, if I go home before exercising (be it walking or going to the gym), 7 times out of 10 I will not leave my house again and will forego exercising in favor of dinner and vegging on the couch.* Sometimes mini goals work really well too..."I will by that CD I want when I've lost 10 pounds" or "I will get that tattoo I've wanted when I lose 40 pounds" or "I will put the money I would have spent on double tall, dark chocolate mochas w/whip each day towards my next vacation destination which I will take when I've lost 70 pounds."* Think about the things you enjoy...the things that are important to you and find ways to use those things to motivate you.* Small goals are the best because they don't seem so out of reach and when you reach them you still feel like you've accomplished something and you are more motivated to set a new goal.* In any case, we are all in your corner, rooting for you!!*

I like to track all my food (I am a calorie counter)(good & bad) I use a free site* www.sparkpeople.com* it has an area to log all your food or will supply menus & has a fitness area. I find reading the Journal Blogs of the other members is like going to a daily weight loss meeting.*

I am so glad to get so many responses. I am starting to drink only water (sometimes with crystal light) with no soda, that always makes a huge difference with me. I also stopped eating fast food and will only eat food from my house. Now all I need is motivation to go to the gym!!! Why is that the hardest, I loved going when it was part of my schedule and now that it's not it seems so hard to get back into it. Anyway I am glad to have found this website!
