Hello everyone! TGIF!!

I just kicked the cat off my lap for washing herself super thoroughly and sending disgusting cat breath pong up to my nose...after she just barfed like 15 minutes ago. NASTY! How can you wash yourself with that?? Ugh.

Thanks for all your support about my dad, you guys. I'm glad you all agree with my decision. I sent him an email with the address a little while ago and hopefully he will continue to be ok with it - and realize that at least he got an address at all. And, if he ever does pass it along to my brother in a drunken stupor and my brother does decide to try and track me down, he'll be met by the security guard in DH's building and shown the door. Not that that would ever happen, but rule number one - I'm in charge here (thanks for that reminder Sue, sometimes I try to be too nice!!) and rule number two - don't trust an alcoholic!

Anyways....this morning DD and I went grocery shopping, woo hoo. At least it's done and yesterday I went to the produce store so I have lots of nice fresh food in the house. I really have to watch that I eat my veggies! I rarely get enough servings in and I think it would help me feel better. Have any of you guys tried yellow carrots? I saw some at the produce store and decided to try them...they're pretty good actually. They were cut like baby carrots taste pretty much like carrots, just less sweet.

Sue ~ Mow? Lawn? What? Does not compute hehe...how are you guys doing with the new sleeping arrangements? Getting used to it all?

Lizzy ~ That doesn't sound good to me, that a lot of people at work are getting the headaches...maybe it's something in the air there, or a cleaner being used or something. Can you talk to someone there about it? Is there a window you can open for a little while every day?

Jen ~ Congrats! Hehe, I don't think I've ever said that to someone getting laid off before...it seems like this has all really worked out the best possible way. I hope you get some good time with Kevin this weekend and can start to make some decisions about what to do next.

Oh, I have to share this with you all, speaking of wacky kids. This morning DD was in the bathroom with me while I had a pee and she likes to grab the bar of soap on the sink in there and smell it and say Ew...which she says for everything lol. I recently switched the soap in there to a bar after she figured out how to push the pump on the handsoap! Anyway...so when it's time I say, "Ok, put the soap back now, we're all done", and she takes a bite out of it!!!! Poor thing, I couldn't help laughing as she was saying, Ewww Ew Ew Ew Ew with bubbles coming out of her mouth!!!! It stuck around in her mouth for quite a while too, I don't think she'll be doing that again soon! Luckily it was all-natural soap from a handmade company, so I wasn't worried about her ingesting it.

My cousin is coming over in a little while for dinner and to hang out with DD and I for the evening. It'll be a girls' night since DH is out playing poker tonight. I haven't seen her since last summer, even though she only lives downtown, so it'll be really nice.

OK, I'd better stop yapping now!!

Sarah~ Let us know what happens with your dad and if the Easter stuff does indeed show up. I meant to tell you the other day when everyone was talking Canada that DH spent quite a bit of time up there with his old company. They use to do contract work for the power company at the nuclear plants. I was really impressed at the way Canada handled their nuclear plants and had like a small museum area where I could even go in and get a better understanding of how they work. Too bad the US doesn't do the same thing. I think people would be more open to the idea. I spent a couple of weeks in Oshawa with him a couple of years ago. We were lucky because they had unusually warm weather the year we were there.

Jen~ WE need to get together and play while you have yoru extended vacation.

I had to run some errands during lunch and guess what..I went by and took the final payment for DS's cancun trip..it is officially BOUGHT AND PAID FOR!!! Glad that one is over with so now I can concentrate on DD's trip to Jackson this summer. Man oh man!!!! I am so wondering where does mom's trip fall into all of this........

Sarah-I almost peed my pants reading your story about dd. Ewww, eww, eww, lol. Juneau, our cocker spaniel often spends outrageous amounts of time "cleaning her junk" as dh likes to call it, and then loves to come and french kiss you with her foot long tongue. No sir...don't like that at all.

Ds has been in his bed consistently every night since Saturday. He's even taken to going in there to read at night instead of curling up with me on the couch I guess I didn't realize just how ready he was. That's good though. 9 has been a good year so far. Pretty rational. But the independence is KILLING me. I meant to answer you about the group of mamas I got to know online. It was an alternative parenting board called hipmama.com. Unfortunately, it's defunct now after alot of ups and downs. It was started by Ariel Gore who wrote a book called The Hipmama's Survival Guide. When the message boards went down, a few of us spun off and formed our own community on an ezboard site, but many of us have since moved on in our lives and gotten too busy to keep up with it. It was a very cool thing when I had it though. Nice to know that you're not the only one who parents like you do, ya know. I was so different than my "peers" back then, still am, but don't need as much reassurance as I did as a newer mom.
Have you tried the boards at mothering.com? They can be a wee bit pretentious at times, but they have a "tribes" section that might hook you up with some moms in your area.

I pay $3.79 for milk up here. Pretty soon gas is going to be more expensive! LOL

OK....so I posted my resume on Monster, applied for unemployment online, posted my resume on the unemployment website and I think my work is done for the day! hehehe

I also decided something else.....I will NOT just sit in the house while I am not working. I figure I have the Y membership, so I will go there to use the equipment and the pool. I will make the most out of this.....I'll become a modern day June freakin Cleaver. LOL
