Default Suggestions from my buddies?

Ok guys,

As you all know by now, I am going to be traveling most of the month of Jan and will only be home 4 days total (which is more than Jen will see Kevin, so I won't complain!). I need suggestions on managing the weight loss thing while I'm gone. 2 of the weeks will give me little control over what is being served b/c they are convention type events. Now, luckily, my company is pretty good about having healthy options available so next week shouldn't be bad. I'm looking for any ideas you guys have. I've already checked out the hotels where I will be and they all have workout centers plus I'm taking my resistance band with me so I shouldn't have any problems with the exercise quotient.

Anyone have suggestions on managing the food thing since I really won't be able to plan ahead?

Thanks guys!

Lori t

Hey Lori how are you?? Can you take some things with you when you go? Or go the the store and get some smart ones to have while in your room? Nuts travel well and some dried fruits
dont sweat it you can do this can you find out a menu if not just make healthy choices and watch your portions! TTFN GinaH

I would find the nearest grocery store once you get to each destination and hit the produce department for fruit.
Do any of the hotels that you are staying at have the mini fridges in the rooms and microwaves? Yogurt, cereal....particularly all bran because that will hold you, oatmeal, LC Panini's. The list can go on.
As for the lunches....hopefully, as you said, they will serve some healthy foods while there. I know alot of those things have different lunch meats and cheeses and salad stuff....make yourself a lite chef salad.

I understand the being away thing..I think thats why I know what Kevin is going through....at my old old job I traveled ALOT too before I had Jess.

You can do it. Oh also....do you have a laptop that you are bringing?

Lori,
any idea if you will have a refridgerator or microwave in your rooms. That would help so you can have some things on hand, if a grocery store is nearby.
Try to stick w/ things w/o sauces, get those veggies and water in along w/ your workouts.
LOL jen and I posted @ the same time w/the same idea

Lori..the hotel we were in this past summer had deluxe continental breakfast bar each morning with fruit and yogurt as well as a variety of breads you could toast and several types of healthy muffins. They also had fruit available all day long in the lobby such as apples and bananas. If you were unable to eat there, you could pick up a "bag" breakfast which had fruit, water, juice and granola bar. It really helped me tremendously staying focused for breakfast time.

Those are great ideas guys! I'm going to get online and see if they say anything about a mini fridge in the room. I will definitely have my laptop with me ... have to use it every day for work

Thank you for the suggestions!!!!

Lori, most decent hotels, if they don't have a fridge in your room, will rent you one for a small fee. When I was traveling alot and trying to WW, I would rent one for like 2 bucks a night...worth every penny.

My suggestions are the same as everyone elses...I would add get yourself some salad dressing, because you don't usually have alot of choice in that dept when it's a catered spread. Also, although salty as heck, jerky might be a good thing to have on hand in a pinch...unless your wheeling and dealing, in which case, ahem, maybe not good for close contact.

You can do this. It's about your lifestyle and making it work, right!
