Good Morning Ladies.
Well I finished painting the living room....but of course now I have a problem. I ripped up more than half of the carpeting last night.....everything underneath..the padding and whatever the other layer was, were sooooo deteriorated it crumbled when I lifted! On top of that, the "whatever" layer was black and that help destroy the varnish on the wood! So only the outside portions of the wood floor look good....anywhere there was furniture or traffic is yuck. OK....so I didn't panic yet. I have an idea. I am going to paint the floor. Really, the only part I need to sand is the portions that still have varnish on it, and that is not alot. Then I will have to do a layer of primer and then paint it. I am not sure which of the colors I should paint it though. I just tried to grab the link on the Lowe's website to show you, but that portion is down....hopefully later I can show you. All I know is this.....I want this done before Kevin gets home. If I have to hear "I told you so" I will be upset. He did tell me so. He said "don't rip up the carpet we don't know what is underneath". Well that is nice and everything, but it would look like we were ready for Christmas year round with the whorehouse red carpeting and my greens on the walls! That carpet is just awful! I am tired of looking at it!
Anyway.....onto food. I had a really good food day yesterday and am proud of myself. BTW I have not updated the ticker for my weight...when I weighed in 3 weeks ago, I was more than the ticker, so I am waiting to be equal to it and go from there. Almost.

Lizzy- UGH on the poison ivy!!! Garrett had it soooooooooooo bad this summer...enough so I had to take him to the Dr. because everything I kept trying was not working. At least now I know he is very allergic to it. I hope you feel better!

I will be back later.

Have a great morning.
Jen

Morning guys.....Drumroll pleeeeaaaassssseee.......I lost 4 pounds on my first week of NS!!!!!!! Yahoo! Wish that momentum would continue, but I know it's just beginners luck...that's ok, I'll take it!

Maverick came home yesterday...WOW....whole different dog! He still won't eat since the runs episode, but he looks great and is pretty perky. The new arthritis meds seem to be good so far...I'm supposed to take him back in 2 weeks and then if all is well, the vet will start him on weight managment meds.

Lizzy.....I get poison ivy all the time...here is the best relief for the itching...depending on where it's located you could do this in the shower or sink or use a cloth. Run as HOT AS YOU CAN STAND water on the area...the hotter the better...it will itch like crazy for a few seconds, but then the itch subsides and stays gone for a couple of hours afterward. Works best if you can use running water though, it will give you instant relief. You can also dilute some bleach and dab on it to help it dry, I've used full strength bleach before on non sensitive areas and it seems to work ok...used it on my face once and got a nasty chemical burn...not pretty!

Jen...paint it then throw a nice big throw rug over it...how big is the living room? have you looked into a carpet remnant? I have decided that the new house will only have carpet in the bedrooms, I just hate it....this house has light blue carpet through the entire living area, including under the kitchen table....you can only imagine how spilled spaghettios looks on the powder blue, oh and dog crap, cat barf...I'm gonna do laminate in the new house.

Ok, I'm off to the firggin mainland again today, Cooper has speech..then I have to go to Home Depot, they have some plans done up for me with some suggestions for the kitchen in the new house, I'm excited to see what the guy came up with, it's a free service they offer...really cool.

Ok, I'll check in when I get home...xoxoxo

So I am ready to just puke. I was just reading the news online and saw about that accident at the power plant in Colorado. Em are you puking too? 5 contract maintenance workers were killed.....well that is what Kevin is considered.
Counting my blessings that he is in Maryland right now and not Colorado.....hoping nobody that he knew as in there....even if they are alright physically, I am sure mentally too scary and too close for comfort.

OK gotta do more work.

Hey kids,
Trying to get some work done. I'm hoping to be finished with everything before noon so I can pack and get laundry done. I've never been so unprepared for a trip, lol.

Nik-glad to hear Mav is doing better. Maybe a "normal" acting doggie will make DH a bit less... well, you know. Dh's dad used to "cure" poison ivy by scratching a fork over it to open it up and then pouring straight bleach into it. Yikes. I can't even imagine how much that hurt. But it worked apparently. So you're not the only one

Lizzy-there's also a homeopathic for it which helps. Did you get the poison ivy wash that neutralizes the oil that causes the spread? I don't know what the name of it is, but my sis uses it for her ds all the time. He's CONSTANTLY got poison ivy.

Jen-I think sanding it and painting it is a far better idea than leaving a nasty carpet that has decomposed underneath on it. Tell Kevin that you can't even imagine what all your kids were breathing in every day...that might do it
I hate carpet. IF and WHEN we get this house, the first thing I'm going to do is rip the carpet out. I don't care if I have to leave bare cement for awhile, lol. I want the carpet gone everywhere by the bedrooms. Good luck!

Ok, back to work for me. I'm getting sick of being chained to my computer. But I won't be for much longer.
Have a great day everyone.
Sue

Hey girls, Brett is better and we are back at school. I am about to leave again to take seniors to college day in another town. Should be fun. They have been my favorite class since they were freshmen. I am going to make myself take a walk tonight... and take dh with me!!

Jen: I love the floor painting idea!! That is very scary about the contractors. I hope it affected no one Kevin knew and I will say a prayer for those families... and yours!
Nik: So glad Mav is better and home! WOOHOO on your 4 pound loss!!
Lizzy: Man, I hope you get the PI taken care of soon!!!
Sue and Gina: have a great day!!!
