RE: I Need Support On Weight Watchers
Hi Heather! I hope my experience helps you. This is my third time on WW. I have been paying my dues since August 23, 2005. Notice have I said, "paying my dues" as opposed to "doing the program." There is a big difference. I have only lost 10 lbs. (actually only 8 on WW, the first 2 I lost on my own). Anyhow...if you look at the time I have been "on" WW, you would say it's not working for me. About a month ago, I hit rock bottom. I decided that I was throwing my money away and that I would simply resign to being fat the rest of my life. I had pre-paid coupons left and I decided to go the meeting and give them to someone who could use them. Once there, I decided to stay for the meeting. I didn't weigh in...what for? That day, without knowing my intentions, our group leader talked about giving up on ourselves. She said that we move mountains for those we love, yet we give up on ourselves in a heartbeat. She said, that was the easy, cowardly way out. Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. How often had I done the impossible for a friend in need? How many mountains had I moved for my family? So why couldn't I do the same for myself? At the end of the meeting, I walked over to my leader, I hugged her and I thanked her. With tears in my eyes, I told her that I wanted to quit....she said, come see me next week. The following week, she looked at my progress report---NOTHING....I had gained and lost the same 5 lbs. She said that I was approaching WW the wrong way. I told her that I WANTED so lose weight, but I didn't have the motivation to do it. I told her I had lost my mojo! She told me...this week, instead of waiting to find your motivation, DO the program, stick to it, not because you are motivated to do it, but because it HAS to be done....like going to work, you may not necessarily want to, but you HAVE to, if you want to put food on your table and a roof over your family's head. She said, "I guarantee you, once you see results, the motivation will come." She also made me write out a plan. A contract with myself about what I needed to do to lose the weight, to stay OP. So off I went...and I did EXACTLY what she told me to do. The following week, I lost 5.5 lbs! So the 8 lbs. I've lost? It's been in the last month. The point is....that motivation I was desperately seeking, came once I saw the results!! DO the program....not because you WANT to, but because you HAVE to. Once you see success (which is inevitable if you follow the program), you will have your MOTIVATION!!! You have done a great job so far. Shift your focus on the fact that you have accomplished so much already. And if you need more support....I'm here! I'll do whatever I can possibly do to help you out!!
