I jog - walk.. I don't really like it but I figure it is the most bang for my buck if ya know what I mean!* I usually go on this trail where a lot of runners go which is 2.35 miles, I make it a personal goal to do 3 miles on my treadmill which usually take me about 38 minutes.* I think walking, joggin, and running are great because it really gets your heart going with the cardio and really tones the rest of your body up too.

I don't think you are ever to old to run...* I do not run...i'm still getting used to walking briskly..and when I do try to run...there is WAY to much bouncing around to even try*.* I would like to be able to run in the future..it just seems so peaceful when I watch someone running...like your at ease..and very focuses.*

I'm a runner. Albeit slow (12-13 minute miles) - but a runner no doubt. I've run several marathons and countless 5Ks, actually I'm running a marathon*in 5 days! I used to hate running (I was a gymnast and played soccer - the extent of my running ability), but in 2000 I decided to run a marathon to raise money for Team in Training (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). I dreaded every training run, but did them anyway. I swore I'd never run another marathon - and I did my*second one 4 months later! I got the bug. Now I can't stop! "Hi, my name is Dejah and I'm an addict!"
I prefer to run in the evenings, it's when I seem to have the most energy and the most motivation (aka I know what I've eaten and what I need to burn). However, during race season I run in the mornings, because that's when all the races are scheduled. I figure I need every opportunity to get used to the "conditions"*that I can! I've heard that "experts" say running in the mornings is best, cos that's when your body will get the most benefit out of it (ie longer fat burning and metabolic increases) and it is supposed to help control hunger the rest of the day - that doesn't work for me!! It controls the hunger for about 3 hours, then I become RAVENOUS! I do more damage running in the mornings.
During training season, I usually run 5-8 miles,*3-4 days a week. I do a long run on week-ends, which is anywhere between 8-23 miles. Then, I use 1-2 days as cross training. However, when I'm not in OCD training mode , I usually run 3-5 miles, 3-4 days a week.
I love running, but fully admit it's an acquired taste. It took me a LONG time to acquire it!

I just started running recently. I heard it is a great way to lose FAT! So I figured I'd give it a try. (Most runners are quite thin, almost emaciated, so I just figure it stands to reason that it is true...) I started this about 1 week ago.
*
So anyway, I go on the treadmill at the gym and can run for 1/4 mile then speed walk for 1/4 mile for a total of about 1 mile. The pace I set is about 4.5 miles per hour (I think it's MPH anyway...) And I speed walk at about 3.5-3.8mph. I think you should probably run at about 6mph, but I am sooo afraid that if I set it at that speed, I'll end up on the floor next to the stepping machines!!
*
My goal is to be able to run 1 mile without having to stop to walk. And YES- my legs are killing me!! *I hope this works...
